That sounds very high to me. I've never paid more than £30 a month.
PS, if you're metered and your bills are high you may be looking at a small leak somewhere. Definitely worth investigating.
Right, just checked the last year - £25 per month metered supply + c. £20 a month waste water. Family of 4. Good job I don't work with numbers Out of interest I've often toyed with the idea of switching gas/electric suppliers but have heard quite a lot of negative stories about the hassle. So who has done this and was it worth it ?

I switched from NPower to Co-op, a very small amount of hassle, mainly in getting nPower to stump up what they owed me, and then some minor teething problems, but well worth the effort.

I switch gas and electric fairly regularly, never had too much hassle with it, regularly made pretty decent savings. If you can get a good price, I'd recommend the customer service of either Ovo or Good Energy, both of which are relatively local companies to boot (and Good Energy is 100% renewable, if you're into that kind of thing)

I would avoid EDF not touching them with the longest barge pole you can imagine..... Absolute shambles of a company!

Switching is a piece of piss. Got quoted dual fuel by nPower £1400 for last year, switched to Extra Energy - £1000 for the year. In practice bills have gone from £120 to £80 a month and I'm currently £500 in credit - but then we did have a very mild Nov and Jan so likely to lose a bit of that over the next few months.

I think there is a energy club or something on there that I have signed up to, I didn't actually switch as the best deal was with British Gas who i was already with, just switched tariff. Money Saving Expert keep sending me emails which I am ignoring at the moment as we are moving very shortly (hopefully), to a house with oil fired central heating which will open a whole new can of worms!

I think I used moneysupermarket for the initial comparison, then did the switch over the phone.
