Title: 20 minute half time
Post by: michael on Sunday, February 22, 2009, 13:55:41
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/feb/22/fifa-half-time-extension

• Plans will be discussed at meeting next week
• Fifa concerned over players having no time to rest

I often feel rushed and slightly flustered at half time. Especially so with the queues at the Cross Bar, it can be a stressful time, so an extra 5 minutes would be most welcome.

I imagine our friends in the Town End will be less receptive towards it, as there isn't really much to do in there is there apart from sing and make animal noises?

Exactly, when was the last time you saw the second half kick off at 4?

Bring back the 10 minute half time, that was always enough, and definately no to 20 minutes.

It's long enough already, don't need more time.

I agree with the short half times.  Less time queing for a shit beer that you haven't got time to drink.

Of course it's not long enough, extra time at half time would mean more adverts for the televised matches, Sky could pay out more and the rich would get richer and the rest of us stay skint!

Do we still have those awful cheerleaders? I keep forgetting my flask and having to go buy things at half time

They didn't appear this week, at least I never spotted them, but I try to forget all about them anyway!  Stick to buying things at half time JFW, it will do the club more good than watching "those awful cheerleaders"! :eatkf:

So let the prem have 20mins and leave the rest of us be.

They had some girls playing football. It was very novelty.

Let's just play the first half on a Saturday and the second half on a Sunday - will this make you happy Mr. Platini?

Oh yes!! I saw that - If I ever had a little girl Im not sure I would let her play football? I would be making her concentrate on her WAG skills!

Im going on a cheerleading course next week!! maybe I could start a troupe?

Crap idea 0 was pissed off when it moved from 10-15 mins - 20 mins of just standing in the cold will seem like a lifetime.

Also, and I'm no scientist but do play regular 90 min amateur football, I find my muscles get stiffer the longer the break at half time - is this just me?  (It may well be - my night before game meal usually involves fermented drinks not recommended by sports scientists...)

Its all about increased revenue from advertising and nothing about players welfare... or those fans who are actually at the game... TV always seems to come first doesn't it? For example the first six nations match to be held on a friday night is tonight.

This is all because of the World Cup and the Chumpions League.

Get back to oranges on the pitch !!!
