Title: Zlatan Ibrahimović
Post by: Coca Fola on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, 21:58:00
Wow, just wow.

Can't believe the Bosnian FA said he wasn't good enough as an 18 year old. Gotta be one of the worst decisions in the history of football. Other players to slip through the Bosnian net include Nikica Jelavić, Vedran Ćorluka, Dejan Lovren, Mladen Petrić, Neven Subotić among others...

Perhaps they thought he was a Serbian Gypo?

Not a bad goal that 4th one though  :)

He's half Croatian too, but Bosnia had first dibs on him as a youngster. Idiots.

I think people are going right over the top about that goal.  It was a good goal.  Perhaps a very good goal.  But really Ive seen some people saying the greatest goal ever.

Surely the greatest goal ever cant be an overhead lob due that luckily found the target when the keeper fucked up royally can it?

Seen better in my life.

Fallon's was vastly more difficult and better executed

Great goal....shame it was in a friendly and not knocking out the Krauts in a world cup semi.

Fallon didn't score 3 other goals in that game though did he.

It was a great goal, but it stank of luck to me. He didn't look at the goal at all between seeing the crap header and putting his boot to the ball. Just hoofed and hoped.

Some would say he just 'knew' where the goal was, and having scored 3 other goals that match, it'd be hard to argue against that, but if you don't even glance at the goal, I find it difficult to believe it would always have gone in because he's such an amazing player. Was kind of in the script with the new stadium and everything tonight wasn't it?

On a side note, Rory Fallon's goal still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up thinking about it. Went absolutely bloody mental as a 13 year-old seeing it from the Nationwide... errr I mean Don Rogers Stand http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfNoELP39Bc

Not the best goal ever. A big slice of luck for me.

I loved that fallon goal. Literally creamed my pants when he did that, and against the slave traders :)

Had a go from a keeper error and it paid off. True to say I've never seen a goal like it, but there was a big chunk of hit and hope, very very classy hit and hope.

I've seen better goals at the County Ground in though, Fallons v City, Cox v Walsall, Fjortoft, Shearer, etc. All "meant" against a keeper in position rather than speculative against a keeper on walkabout.

Fantastic performance by Ibrahimovic mind.

Did well to get his foot around it although he was in loads of space. For technical ability Cox vs Walsall was far better.

it was lucky it paid off but he had the presence of mind to give it a go and did fantastically to get himself into a position to get a decent connection on it, he knew where he was on the pitch so knew where the goal was but it could have gone anywhere.

all told it was a fabulous piece of opportunism and i salute him for that.  certainly nowhere near being one of the best ever though.

Lee Millers miss in that game was also pretty extraordinary

Yes he knew where the goal was and yes he meant it but it was a flukey finish.

Ibra is hugely over rated but a solid striker none the less.

Everyone at work today is talking about the fourth goal and how good it was. Personally I think his third was a belter. He stopped the speed of the ball on his chest beautifully and rifled the volley home. Great goal.

He's still a cunt though

Third was a free kick wasn't it?

Ibrahimovic is one of the most criminally under-rated footballers by this country, as some comments in here show.

Especially when compared to our predicament of having to pick from Welbeck, Daniel fucking Sturridge, Andy Carroll et al.

I'd say Ibra is better than Rooney too.

As for his 4th goal, it was great. Not the best ever, but the technique shown was impeccable, and took advantage of the open goal in a situation where most would have just brought it down, turned, and looked for a striker in the box.

Hooray! Someone speaking sense about Zlatan in this country for once. He's won the league title 8 seasons running between 2004 to 2011 with 5 different teams in 4 different countries. If he was English our press would have a Storey-esque wankfest about him on a weekly basis.

People who say that Ibra is overrated are the same people that say Joe Hart is the best GK in the world.

Case closed.

I can't have him but then I tend not to rate players at all unless they do something of note against a team I follow i.e. Swindon, England or in the CL against an English side

I always thought he was over-rated and the last few times England have played Sweden he hasn't done a lot. On his day he is unplayable and it sounds like yesterday was one of those days.

For me he is still more miss than hit though, but still a very very good player.

A Paynteresque type of player

I would also say that "now he has proved it on a big stage" is total horeshit, a meaningless friendly, against a dreadful England side full of players who will never wear the shirt in a competitive game. Big stage my left testicle.

A Paynteresque type of player

Very much so.

That is if Paynter had a better than 1-in-2 goalscoring record over the last 6 and a bit seasons for Inter, Barcelona, Milan and PSG; had been Serie A top scorer twice and Serie A player of the year 3 times.

Well taken goal with the element of "luck" about it certainly does not make the best goal ever. Total nonsense giving it that title by the media as there must be thousands of great goals scored over all the years football has been played that will never see the light of day as TV/Video/Cameras were not around.

Do not really like the bloke but would always have him in any team who I support.
