Birdy, i think when you say i don't understand, you are correct.  I would understand if your horse died, i just don't get the Best Mate thing.  I don't connect with horses like i would with sports-people, so when one dies it means nothing, as opposed to if Jimmy Greaves were to pop his clogs or something.

I'm with Janaage - it is sad - but it the over top attitude taken to all these things now.

No-one just dies anymore - they're cruelly ripped from our world and mourned for eternity - and that devalues the mourning thing when someone if truely tragically taken

60,000 Asians dying in an earthquake is a tragedy etc.
One horse (ie Best Mate) is just death
Put things in perspective - it so insignificant its not worth a topic  :x
