(oh and Ardiles, Weber are very much expensive Maybe you got lucky). Ours is one of these, but it's bright blue. And we bought it maybe 6 or 7 yrs ago when it cost a little over £100...working out at less than £20/year so far. Can't argue with that.

wow, didn't realise they were that cheap. Obviously I've spent to long looking at their high end gas BBQs!

Seriously though, who needs a high end barbeque? The whole point (for me, anyway) is you want a simple, well built piece of kit that will last, will be easy to use, easy to clean, that retains the heat from the coals and makes it easy to dispose of the ash afterwards.

Anyone who is a fan of conspicuous consumption. You know the sort of thing my barbie is bigger than your barbie Most likely a fella. You'll notice it's nearly always blokes who do the cooking.... it's a throwback to our times as hunter gatherers.

I've always been a fan of spending only what I need to, and keeping the rest of my ££ in the bank.

Went for a cheaper options ourselves, Outback Meteor for grilling, ProQ smoker (ebay purchase). Can't go too cheap on the smoker unless you build it yourself, you need a nice steady controllable temp.

While on the subject of barbecues, I’m going to try and make you all jealous (maybe). Frankly I don’t give a fuck and find the thing hideous and unnecessary (I’m happy with a disposable), but my missus looks like she’s being given a the top of the range Kamado Joe. I believe it’s worth north of £1k.

Want to get into home smoking this summer.

That’d be my choice, although in truth it’s being given to not be sold. Her indoors wants it (and begged for it) anyway. She’s a recovering chef, so I guess I can see why.

Big Green Egg is the mega trendy option at the moment (if you have £££££s) I have a portable Webber with a tower - excellent.

Just get the COBB System. Useful for camping and you'll never look back.
