Playing devil's advocate but I don't think Pompey can be that keen on Ritchie because he's not included in their first team squad on their club website...

oh and I'm the guy who's writing 'The Ritchie Report'. Check it out if you haven't already,

Being very very selfish, I hope we do get him on a free but I wouldn't wish liquidation on any set of supporters.

Technically he's still an 'asset' for the liquidator to sell but I unless he still keeps being paid by Pompey, he will become a free agent.

What does that mean though?

Will you have to pay the FA for their registration?

You could be right but it's been so long since it happened to a FL club.

If they are released, will the players actually be able to sign for another club before January? Don't the rules say free agents can only sign out of the window if they were free agents when the window closed, or is there special dispensation when a club folds?

Pointless speculating, not going to happen. Do you not remember how many times they wheeled out Andronikou to say we were going to go bust if we didn't shut up/get sold down the river to the dodgy Portugeezers/do whatever the whim of the day was? Same old, same old, just firming up Chainrai as the only alternative and providing a nice pantomime villain in Gaydamak that Chainrai can "save" them from so they'll all know to be terribly grateful and say nowt when he carries on where he left off in wrecking the club. Even bigger load of bollocks than the Rooney pantomime

Sorry. In which case, FWIW I was under the impression that free agents were the only players who *could* sign outside the window. Either way, got to increase our chances of making the deal permanent in January, you'd hope

In fairness, he's probably only doing what he's been told to - deliver the club to Chainrai shorn of debt as cheaply as possible.
