So glad Brazil got through, the World Cup needs them, Samba football straight from the Copa Cabana, joy to watch and so on and so forth...*
*For all I know they may have been really good - I didn't actually watch the game...

They've a decent workman like side, with a few players who can do something a bit out of the ordinary. Their main strength is having good balance throughout... perhaps lack a proper centre forward as Jesus is a bit lightweight, but then again you can win a WC without one. The tourney winner will most likely come from the vainqueur of France/Brazil in the semi

Wouldn't Belgium test Brazil more than Japan and possibly a better spectacle as well.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? Crap!

I guess the converse is people who say they shouldn't know stuff because it happened before they were born. Happens a lot in quizzes and pub conversations about music.
You can tell Ken Bruce hates it when people use it as an excuse on popmaster!

Why is there no English ref at the WC? I thought each country represented also supplied a ref.

No, not the case. I believe there has to be refs from all confederations/continents but the nationality of such doesn't have to be of a qualified team. For example I think there is an Uzbeki and U.S ref at Russia.

Clattenburg was our representitive, went on all the training courses leading up to the tournament and then decided to fuck off to Saudi Arabia leaving no time for another ref to do the courses.

Nope. Clattenburg was on the list put forward but forfeited his place due to buggering off from the PL to Saudi Arabia (I think?) We have got Simon Lount though. Born in Leicester but an NZ citizen.
