Title: Swindon Town FC V 'Num FC
Post by: bathford on Saturday, December 22, 2018, 08:50:45
Right then! It's 8.57 and not a word from anyone else.  Can't make the game today 'family visit to the M25'. Oh joy!  Anyway, 2-1 to us with loans proving their worth.

Apparently we have a rather a poor record against Cheltenham and they might be considered something of a bogey team. Fortunately though, there is actually no such thing as a 'bogey team', it is superstitious nonsense. I am therefore going with...

3-1 Adebayo, Doughty, Twine

OST, that's all perfectly logical. how can a team that has had several changes of managers, and dozens of players be a bogey team.

9:40 train for us today from Melksham, bit for breakfast in Sir Dans, few beers and then watch the midday Premie Leage game somewhere. Couple more in the CGH hotel before the game, watch us hammer Cheltenham 3.0 with goals from Doughty x 2 and Woolery. Walk up to Old Town after the game to watch the evening kick off, 9pm train back to Melksham just in time for the Whyte and Chisora fight.

Merry fucking Christmas  :pint:

Disappointed in the OMTD title, it bodes badly for today.

Can't be bothered doing a form write up today, we won't win, they are near the bottom, we will totally outplay them as always and there will be 2 goals against us on the break, fucking us up again.

2-1 defeat with Twine scoring in front of 5,985 fans with just 251 Cheltnumbers there.

How did you manage that. The stewards there were the most useless fuckers I've come across. They seemed scared of their own shadows and had no control whatsoever.

Numb's form is decent of late, on the road they're as good as Bury, who turned us over and better than Cambridge who turned us over.

You're analysis seem about right. Perhaps though, if like the last 2 home games would could hit them with an early goal, then maybe a chance of a point. However we will concede, and the longer it goes without us scoring, the more inevitable it will get.

I jumped onto the pitch when we scored ::) had to wait outside for the whole of the 2nd half for my mates, I also missed the last 20 mins of the FA cup game there as we went to the pub after they scored their 4th :)

Over the 6 or 7 games I've seen there, you've probably put in a better performance on the pitch than the players. The fa cup one was a real shocker.

Had I known what was to come, I'd have been more excited by our solitary point at Whaddon Road.... however we were one up and dominant, so it seemed a bit disappointing at the time.  The ref that day.... Keith Stroud, I wonder if he can do FGR games?

End to end stuff, chances for both sides and a booking for their CB already. Cheltenham have a lot of enthusiasm but not much skill when it counts, Hussey looks well off the pace at the moment, Tozers throws look dangerous.

Acres of space behind both our fullbacks, Vigs distribution has been really poor, giving the ball away too easily and barely been in their half since the first 5 mins.

Going to be another of THOSE Cheltnumb games.

Title: Re: Swindon Town FC V 'Num FC
Post by: Peter Venkman on Saturday, December 22, 2018, 15:43:40
Poor first half, several players not performing well, Iandolo, Knoyle, Woolf, Twine, Bayo.

When we run with the ball at them they look scared but Wellens has misread them and our long balls are meat and drink for their massive centre backs. STOP HOOFING IT! FFS

Get the ball down and run at them, None of Dunne flicks have come off and Woolery is not being passed to at all. Twine looks like hes been singled out for some heavy treatment which he can't deal with, both fullbacks have been poor, Knoyle got into it a bit more as the game went on.

Needs changing 2nd half and we need to stop knocking it long to Bayo.

dunno if it's coming across on iPlayer,  but our shape is all over the shop. knoyle is being drawn centrally and hussey has acres of room down their left.

midfield is also a mess, whatever it's supposed to be isn't working, far too much space.

going forwards, useless. adebeyo is hopeless today.

Cheltenham have done their homework, no chance for Vigs to play it short because there are 3 shutting down our defence.

absolutely fucking woeful.

is that really Wellens style of football? barely saw two pass and moves. everything long ball to one of the worst strikers iv seen play for town. would rather a bag of cement and hope for a deflection.

Ellis- how many times do you have to whack it to the opposition before you understand you don't have the ability and should try a simple pass.

doughty- did he play?

They don't fancy this and it shows big time. can't work out who turned up wanting a point.

I spat my coffee all over the screen when I read this!

Do you get a post match interview with Wellans when you subscribe to the match?

Saw on Adver that Swidon will not be taking another look at Jonte Smith. Wondered if there was anything more said?

Definitely a point gained..... keeps us on our nice mid table perch.  Further keeps us just slightly better off at the half way stage of our worst ever finishing season, when we had 29 points.  It is has the advantage of keeping the gap to Numb, who've still got a bit to do. Numb have never finished above us, when we've been in the same league and we need to keep it that way.

So far so good in the Wilts/Glos/Somerset mini league.

Fair play to those 22 blokes for getting paid for that.

Doughty can’t be fit. The bloke can play football but your nan will move more this Christmas.

James Dunne is an outstandingly bad footballer.

Matt Taylor we all know offers set pieces and leadership but nothing from open play.

Adebayo might work in a 2 but no chance of winning a header

Woolery might be a threat but his touch is like a trampoline

Wellens got it wrong today and didn't properly address it.

First half Doughty was playing too far forward and Taylor too deep resulting in Cheltenham bossing the midfield. With Knoyle pushing in more centrally through necessity it left Hussey far too much space down the left. The midfield of Cheltenham had far too much space.

Thankfully they were fairly hopeless too, so we got away with it.

We tried to get Twine to cut the space to Hussey, which worked to an extent, and we were a little better but only creating half chances - Dunne and Wolfen done probably should have done better with the best of it.

At the other end Cheltenham were fairly lame. Their best chance was nearly an own goal that Vigs did brilliantly to tip over.

As for our own forwards, Woolery works hard but needs to pass the bloody thing. And Adebayo twice got cheered for winning a header . I know he's young and going to be a bit erratic in form, but today he looked half arsed and seemed content running goal side of a defender rather than heading the ball.

So while Cheltenham probably controlled midfield, 0-0 was fair enough.

His approach and views aren't going to be popular with the club.

not sure banning him because of it is going to help, even if it is at their discretion.

he's not really being very clear of the exact circumstances.

If Christian K's story is legit then it sounds like they've clocked his rhetoric and decided they don't want him to attend games.

I don't particularly agree with much that he says (apart for his love for the Glenn Hoddle era) but it's a bit of a slippery slope.

Apparently someone else got summoned to a meeting a while back too regarding their views and wanting to organise some kind of protest. Got told they had to do it in a certain way or something, i dont know the ins and outs, was mentioned on that group.

As you say, slippery slope.

the funnyside of that facebook group are the polls. something like 500 voted for glad all over to be changed and 7 voted for a power out protest. sums it up perfectly

For the record, I don't think it's right that anybody should be kicked out for voicing their opinion. But I am pleased that it happened to this particular individual.

It's a cuntish and wrong thing for the club to do on the face of it... but I would like to know more before drawing a conclusion. It would hardly be surprising to hear that this bellend did something to deserve it.

It's about time it happened to him. He's made more shit up than I've had cooked dinners including that Power deliberately got us to lose the play off final. When you make up as much shit as he does and post it on a daily basis then eventually the club will draw a line.

On a side note he's a cheltenham fan really but got banned from their forum as they had enough of him, that tells you everything you need to know about him.

Agree with everything posted above, the bloke's a twat. I still think it's wrong to ban somebody for voicing their opinion, though.

I also suspect there's more to it than he is letting on. Kostiuk is a fucking gobshite behind a keyboard. An internet warrior and a bully. I've long thought that he would cross the wrong person at some point. It was just a matter of time before he got a slap. It might be that one or two people have conspired to administer that slap... just not in a physical sense.

There's voicing an opinion and then there is openly posting lies and provocative nonsense with the sole intent of stirring up unrest. He crossed that line years ago and has got what he deserves, he's the type who would deliberately do something knowing he would get banned to make it seem like he was picked on.

Whilst there isn’t much to say about the game, as shown by the number of posts, it’s worth mentioning that Vigs looked much more convincing again. Only one (excellent) save to make, but that’s largely because he handled the crosses so well.

I agree with what FH is saying that nobody should ever be banned for voicing an opinion, but, he often voices an opinion in a threatening way or if the club think that he could be more violent then they are well within their rights to ban him before he becomes abusive toward any fan or member of staff at the club.

He does, as said by others, make up rumours that seem to spread like wild fire between the gullible section of our fanbase and are taken as fact by some.

Football is changing, and shouting your mouth off and threatening and lying can no longer be condoned. As soon as he sets foot through the door he has to obey the club/league rules otherwise he will be ejected, which appears to have happened.

There are ways to criticise the club without being aggressive and still being able to support the club, he crossed the line, no sympathy I am afraid from me.

Couple of comments on yesterday. Nelson was superb. Fully deserved his MOTM & dealt with the experienced Varney comfortably. Woolfenden was also good defensively but his distribution was woeful. I lost count of the amount of aimless long balls he knocked. Adebayo was dreadful. Poor in the air for a big lad, weak for a big lad & painfully slow. Up front is a real problem for us. I'd send him back to Fulham, try & offload Richards & look to bring in two replacements.

It may not have helped him posting a pic of himself behind Stratton bank goal, since removed. A shot from the town end then the arkells. He may well have had a ticket but not for where he was.

Of course in that groups eyes he is now a legend.

I find it interesting that everything about this is on the closed Facebook group, he doesn’t seem that keen to talk about it on his open twitter account.

He once tried to report an STFC employee because they liked a comment on Facebook where someone had said he was a boring twat, that sums up to me what a tool he is.
