Great episode, thought Alan came across brilliantly, sounded like a top bloke with a great sense of humour.

Sad to hear so many positive comments about the Hobos in Edinburgh though Rich!!

He was the fastest footballer I have ever seen in my life.

I am absolutely convinced that he could have run across water if he had wanted to.

Trouble was, he could only run in a straight line.

Exeter at home he was like a man possessed, ultimately no end product though which was always the case.

Indeed. I guess there are similarities between him and Woollery, in getting the crowd excited when on the ball, but you knew that nothing would come of it.

He scored an absolute worldy in a pre season friendly vs Poole that was part of the Charlie Austin deal, one of the finest solo Town goals I have ever seen, ran the length of the pitch at speed with the ball at his feet and rounded the keeper.

I swear that if the Town End wasn't in the way, he would have kept on running down Fleming Way.

He would have got to the petrol station and his hamstring would have given way!

tbf I think Woolery's a better player than O'Brien. I liked O'Brien but he was a lot more pace than a footballer, Woolery could certainly do with improving his football side, but he's definitely a player with pace, rather than just all pace

That's a fair point. Woolery shows flashes of skill and pace, but with usually with no end product. Obviously, if he was consistent and could score, he'd be plying his trade in the 1st, not 4th division.

Woolery is a far better player than AOB was. Nowhere near the finished product yet but definately better.

I agree, I think Woolery has a bit more Hale about him rather than Pace.  :pint:

I remember him being a poor player. Except for one game where he played an absolute blinder and then went back to being crap again.

They also had an exercise bike near the dugout so he could warm up his legs before coming on.

I have mentioned this before, on the morning it came out that we had signed him I got a message from a Geordie mate it just said 'he can run really fast but he is not a footballer'

Pretty much on the money!

He was exactly like Ricky Shakes just left footed, Irish and white...

We played someone on TV, I think, maybe Southampton? And a defender had about 15 yards on him running for a ball about 40 yards away and he beat the defender to it. I remember howling at the insanity of his pace.

I remember that. It was Saints away. Helped set up a goal for Pericard in the JPT. Can't find any footage of it anywhere though.
