St George's Park, Burton

Each day I drive past the new England Training Centre near to Burton, last night I took a look around as there was no security on the gates.
It looks pretty impressive despite being in the middle of nowhere and half an hour from the nearest motorway..

Meh. I'll judge it in 20 years time based on what it has produced rather than it looking pretty!
If then we have won a major tournament all good ...
If we are still crap. Our players are still unable to keep hold of the ball and the same failings that have blighted the national team for the last 20 years still exist then it will be a bigger waste of money than wembley!

The problem is it won't succeed whilst the top clubs are still running the game.
In some ways I don't think the national team will have a chance to improve that much without the premier league going down the pan.
If the money dries up, the big name players will leave & clubs will have to focus on developing young talent rather than buying in the best.
The problem is that we will probably go back to having teams full of the best Scottish, Irish & Welsh players.

I personally think the introduction of 5v5 and then 9v9 for the under-12s is going to have a far bigger impact on the players we produce than this but, hey, it all helps.
