Would that mean he's ineligible for England?

I know it will probably never happen, but I'd love to see him play for England.

Get rid of that minimum release fee now, cos if he becomes an international, he'll be worth far more!!

Wouldn't blame him, no chance he'll ever play for England realistically.

He's got Scotch grandparents I think.

No harm done as it's only a friendly so he can still play for England if the call comes.

fair play if he gets picked.
realisticly he wont play for england and if he can play international football with scotland it can only benefit him a whole lot more.

go for it SSP.

Id never play for the Jocks no matter if it was my only option to play internationals its just not right.

Same. I don't know who I'd choose between England and the Republic if I had the choice, my loyalty is rather evenly split :/

anyway, it depends on whether this counts as a full senior cap. If it does then he can't play for anyone other than Scotland, but if UEFA/FIFA consider it a youth game then he'd be able to play for England should the chance ever arise. I'm not sure what the situation with 'B' internationals are, I'm sure Reg will know  8)

He'd be a fucking wanker if he does, no matter how many goals he's scored in the highasyoucankickit league sponsored by Coca Cola.

It doesn't matter if it's a full or senior cap - what matters is whether the game is a competative international.

Remember Matt Le Tissier and all the fuss over him being able to play for the French - he was only locked in as an England international when he played the competative game against Italy (and missed several good chances).

So SSP CAN play for Scotland B as long as it's a friendly, and still later play for England.

Fucking hell I never knew that wanker Virgo was scottish!!

As for Sam, well he's finally seen the light, what can I say.  I've never been so proud of a Swindon player.

fair play to sam, he is never going to be given a chance for England.  Isn't he also eligible to play for N.Ireland?

Steady Marie, his mother's a Scot and if it's taken Sam 24 years to realise where his heart lies, well that's fine with me.  His legendary status has just got bigger.

Only time will tell Richard.  I hope he does, that'd be amazing to see SSP lining up, whilst the Flower of Scotland it belted out.

At the moment yes, but Sam is an instant away from really making a name for himself up there I reckon.

Also, don't most Liverpool fans regard Dalgliesh as their best ever player?  Certainly not Owen anyhow.

I'm not a Scot or owt, by the way.

Good luck to him if that's what he wants.  I'd be tempted to bang in a couple of own goals myself.

He might as well give it a go with Jockland I reckon, because with the greatest respect (and I'm sure he knows it) he is not on the same planet as Messrs Rooney, Owen, Defoe etc.  He obviously feels a little bit of a tie because of his ma, so why not?

I think Grant Smith should be in the squad as well.

He should be in their first team or not there at all!

How would people feel if by playing for Scotland SSP satisifed his desire to play 'at a higher level' and therefore stayed at town for the next decade..!  8)

I'd be all for it then!

Only 16 players fly out for the futures game against Austria.  "Everyone will get a game" said Smith.  Hope Sammy does well, good to see a Town player get some recognition for some good work over the last three years.  As there are only three forwards in the squad seems like Sam will get a good opportunity to shine.
