two points:

1. we can't afford it, these things never get turned over anyway

2. it blatantly was a foul and a red card offence

i didn't think it was a penalty on first viewing either... but after viewing it again on stfc world, Gurney falls in such an unnatural way that it does look like he tries to pull back the striker. Knowing Gurney's track record, I wouldnt be at all surprised if he did delibrately clip the striker.
