I haven't been convinced by collins in either defensive position. Obviously if O'hanlon was fit he would start. I think Ifil would probably benefit from a bit of experience on either side, therefore the above would be my starting formation.

You've chosen my line up.  Now I understand what's behind the 4:5:1, he wanted to make use of Whalley.  If he really must play Whalley, put him on the left instead of Nicolau for the first half.  I would certainly give Thorpe a half, especially if Roberts isn't opening his legs and showing his class.

If we play 4-5-1 against Southend I'm going to just put "bollocks" up on the scoreboard, leave it and go home/to the pub.

Mine is:

Code:
                   Heaton

Gurney    Jenkins    Ifil        Smith

Roberts   Pook       Migz       Nicolau

          Thorpe       Fallon

Subs:
Bulman
Collins
Whalley
Cureton
Shakes

This would be my team with the assumption taken that O'Hanlon and Evans are out through injury.  I'd like to see Thorpe given another chance, with Roberts playing but currently I just don't see their being room for him up front.  It's a shame to drop Heath altogether but haven't been overly impressed, and I think Roberts gives us something different on the wing, whilst Nicholau's crossing is quality.

Shakes has to play.

KT's selection looks spot on, assuming O'Hanlon is still out.

Walrus, what the fuck are you on?  Why does Thorpe deserve to start? His performances and attitude so far in an STFC shirt barely justify being on the bench, let alone the first XI.

If he scores a few for the reserves I'd consider giving him another chance, untill that point he can go fuck himself

I reckon monkey man will think that the 4-5-1 formation has been such a rip roaring success that he will go one step further and go for a 4-6-0.

Toss pot.

Now what Mr. Pie?  After a hat-trick can he now have his chance?

Thorpe has to start, otherwise just loan him out to Rochdale.  Assuming no more 4:5:1, give the guy three starts, if he doesn't do anything then send him on his way.  Cureton can take his place if he can't be arsed.

kinky Tom's lineup looks about right, although maybe Cureton for Roberts, as I think Cureton's played quite well without having much luck, and Roberts has been more of a handfull off the bench than starting.

Apart from one smart finish against Oldham, Thorpe has done nothing. Hopefully his hattrick for the reserves may sort him out a bit.

So after all this polling from DV we might as well put down our line up for Saturday.

Mine is:

Code:
                   Heaton

Gurney      Ifil         Collins        Smith

Shakes      Pook       Migz       Nicolau

             Roberts
                       Fallon

Though we all know Heath will start, and King probably will not go with it, but I'd consider the best option.

100% agree with the formation and 90% with the personnel Tom, good work. Cheesy

My only thought would be to maybe have Whalley instead of Pook, Cureton instead of Roberts and Comm Platt featured in the back somewhere as he has looked pretty good when i've seen him.

I would be more than happy with the team above but I can see King playing 4-5-1 again, if not he won't pick Nicolau in front of Heath. Sad

The most attacking lineup in my view and hope we go with it, to make it worth missing the test cricket !    :run:
