I bought a new laptop a month or so ago and it came with Norton antivirus already installed with a free trial. Anyway that free trial is now coming to an end and i either need to pay to renew it for a year or i get something free from the web.

Any reccomendations?

Is the free avg enough? I see there are 2 other versions with better specs.

All i use the net for is general web browsing and movie/music downloading.

Thanks

AVG slows down my computer because its so old. Other than that it works fine. Just be careful with the damned link (URL)  checker setting.

If you are going for a commercial prog then Kaspersky internet security 2009 is about £13 for a 3 PC (year long license) at Amazon.

I think so.

My AVG stopped auto updating but I manually downloaded the new version and it's been fine ever since. Happened on two computers.

yeah same here, except when i got the new version it did the same again.

after a good few months running and speaking to me in american, avast has just kicked in and done something for the first time.

i was told to get onto this site

http://www.dialang.org/

to test my proficiency in german for some pgce stuff, but it seems there's malware or something associated with it? even if i ignore the warning google seem to block me.
