There are some early indicators of a decent season ahead, but atm no more than that. Taking each game as it comes, means ColU in the LC in the week.... looked a shite draw when it came out of the shopping trolley, but now even worse, with the big game at Sid James's Park to come at the weekend. How does Wellens go about it, rest players or go for the win to keep the feel good going?
I think he should rest players. Heightened risk of injury in double game weeks early on in the season. Personally wouldn't risk Lyden, Isgrove and Doughty given their injury records.

I was always of the opinion that you keep a settled team that is winning but agree with the above that not worrying too much about the cup game is ok as it can give the fringe players good match time and getting out of this blooody division is far more important.

I want promotion but I want a cup run, is it asking for too much? Cups can bring big money. returning fans, atmosphere and continued form. Cup runs can transform teams at this level with future budgets. We have only played 2 games- these players can handle another fixture. kids only for paint pot-full strength for league and fa cup please

I agree and would go further by not playing any of the 11 that started against Carlisle. Squad is threadbare, particularly in midfield and attack, not helped by injuries to Rose, Mcgilp and DJ. Give the subs/youngsters and unwanted a chance to prove themselves. Promotion is a must this year and although we could get a decent draw if we get through it is a tough tie and probably at best 50/50 even with full first team playing. Plus losing with same players would halt winning momentum and potential risk of injury/general fatigue is too great to take at this early stage of the season. Therefore play Henry, Reid, Ballard, Broadbent, Romanski, Diagoraga, May, Graham, Iandolo, Mcgleshan and Twine. That way it is a free hit. Lose as expected and no impact on first team preparations for Exeter game get an unexpected win and it might open up opportunities for some to push the first team or increase chances of a move.

I also want a cup run, but promotion has to be the priority and we do have a thin squad.

Promotion. Power/Morfuni (whoever really has the means?) and the trust have a stadium to develop, that will attract more money and investment in a higher league, preferably the Championship.

League Cup/Boycott Cup - second string League/FA Cup - 1st XI
On the grounds that no-one cares about the Boycott Cup and I agree that the Colchester game this early in the season risks uneccessary injury so willing to sacrifice that to keep the winning start to the League on track. But we should be nicely into our rhythm by the time the 1st round of the FA Cup comes round, plus it's not a midweek game so not pushing players into an extra game.

Luton field weakened side, and Hylton is not even on the bench. Some of their fans were hoping he'd get a run-out.
