Title: Safe Standing Poll
Post by: Whits on Friday, December 17, 2004, 16:38:34
Result have just been released by FFC for the Safe standing poll they where doing.

http://www.footballfanscensus.com/results_latest.html?id=62

quite an interesting read to be honest.

"In terms of choice a resounding 91% (90% previously) of respondents felt fans should be given the freedom to choose whether they stand in safe-standing areas. Of the respondents 25% (as before) felt safe-standing areas should be mandatory. With regard to who has the power to decide, 71% (66% previously) of fans said it should be decentralised and left to the clubs or local authorities with only 10% (11% previously) feeling that the decision should rest with the Government - as is currently the case.

In terms of the match-day experience, 45% (48% previously) would buy a safe-standing ticket all the time if going to a match. More than half of the respondents said the introduction of these areas wouldn't affect crowd trouble or spectator safety. A large majority (81% as before) felt the existence of safe-standing areas would make their overall match-day experience more enjoyable. Only 1% (as before) of fans would go to fewer matches if safe-standing areas were introduced."

Town end will never close, can't see it happening, but you never know.

safe standing doesn't look too bad, but prefer terracing!  :D

Exactly, but if the worst did happen and the town end were shut, we could have a situation where people just stay away, after all, the exodus of the last five seasons or so from the Nationwide stand could mean that its ticket prices that are playing an ever increasing role in whether people come to football at all. People may simply not bother coming if they can't go in the town end.

Safe standing=happier supporters
Safe standing=cheaper tickets=happier supporters
Happier supporters spend more money=richer team=better players

The logic is there my friends.
