I was at Grantham v Swindon December 1965 in the FA Cup. Won 6-1. I wasn't at the 5-1 win at Mansfield after relegation back to Division 3 a season or so later but I have a feeling/distant memory that both our full backs, Owen Dawson and John (legend) Trollope, scored. Which was unusual back then to say the least.

Northampton fans turned up for the trouble. The pool balls were also flying about which could have resulted in a serious injury. Was only 1-0 at halftime if I recall.
Yeah Cobblers fans were nasty fuckers, 2-0 at HT mate we scored right on half time.

Well, we know where we're goin' But we don't know where we've been And we know what we're knowin' But we can't say what we've seen And we're not little children And we know what we want And the future is certain Give us time to work it out

The 6-0 v Huddersfield. They've never been big rivals that I recall but what I enjoyed that evening was the chanting at their then manager, ex Pissstains ledge, Brian Horton: Cheer up Brian Horton Oh what can it mean to a ... shit football manager of a ... shit football team

That was pretty rough... Who remembers Z Hire?? On the subject of scoring 5/6...we beat Stoke 6-0 in 89/90...Mick Mills was 'sacked in the morning' IIRC...

I witnessed a Z Hire van getting chased by a load of cobblers thugs before the game as we were looking to park our car.

Stoke fans joining in with the goal celebrations and doing the Conga was one of the highlights. I've had a soft spot for Stoke fans since then, especially as they backed us when we were demoted from the 1st Division for financial irregularities. They are always fair when defeated and magnanimous in victory. You'd never have thought the other team in Stoke would have such arseholes for fans.

I was at the 2-5 at WBA in the 94-95 season as we were mid free fall from the Premier League to third tier (whatever it was called at the time).
Strangely, looking it up now I see the scoring sequence was exactly the same as yesterday as we came back from 1-0 and 2-1 down although all the goals were scored in the second half.
One of my favourite games...
Great game. Fjortofts pissed off celebration. And Ty Goodens first town goal?

Besides advertising at the top of the Mansfield Town home stand it reads, " the oldest professional football ground in the world "🤔

Some of those previous posts have certainly jogged the old memory, was lucky enough to be at the away wins at WBA 5-2, & B’ham 6-4, brilliant days out, not a day of mega goals but the Blackburn PO Away game will always stick in my mind as a great day out together with the Gillingham PO game at Selhurst Park. Been lucky enough to have seen Town play on around 70 away grounds and spent a fortune doing it - especially during the premiership season!. One of the worst was the FAC game at Newcastle, ropey old charabang and sitting on that bloody cold scaffolding watching the goals roll in. Far too many home games but remember the Stoke fans vividly doing the conga on the bank. Maybe it’s not been so bad watching Town over the years after all !!.

And so he was The chant that I recall was also cruelly accurate: He's short! He's fat! He's going to get the sack! Micky Mills, Micky Mills ...
