Hello tech wizards I see that an app can be downloaded to enable my phone to be used as a remote control. My dvd controller has packed up, the dvd is rarely used so I can't be bothered to buy a new controller. Can anyone recommend an app as there seems to be hundreds of them! Ta.

Not sure they can be described as an app, although I'm sure that's in development. But I find fingers work quite well.

Surely the youth of today simply tweet someone to change the channel for you?

I know of Gmote, which lets you use your phone as a remote control for your laptop providing they're on the same wi-fi connection, but as far as DVD players go I have no idea.

A universal remote can be picked up for a few quid. Your phone will need IR capabilities.

For all the trouble that setting it up is, you may as well buy a new remote
