I know some of you cook... What would you prefer to cook on Gas or Electric?

I have to buy a cooker. Any house i have ever lived in has had electric... but a few people are telling me to get gas and now im confused.
The same with carpet vs wood floors.... Ive always thought the latter looks nice but they say its cold.... opinions please x

I had electric cookers growing up, but for the last year have had gas. I prefer the Gas, because it heats up quicker and i find cooks more evenly in the oven. Easier to clean too, because shit doesn't get stuck to the hob. Don't know if it's more expensive though

Gas every time.  And carpets...but not in your kitchen.

I've had both....but electric in the current house, so used to it, not sure it makes any great difference to how the food comes out.

Carpets...I really don't like the bare floor trend, noisy and cold.

I'm stuck with electric but it's rubbish. You can't heat a wok properly on it or anything that requires intense/high heat  Angry

Carpet in the lounge and bedrooms, ceramic tiles in the kitchen and wood everywhere else.

Gas hob, electric fan oven. Perfect combo.

I agree with that.

Although it is fun to watch your housemate burn off his eyebrows when trying to light the dodgy grill (serves him right for being a smart-arse because I couldn't get the temperamental thing to light!)

Gas hobs are useful when you lose your lighter.

I have an electric hob cooker and I don't like it, I much prefer gas, as it heats up quicker, cools down quicker, and is easier to control the heat.
