Seems the weekend may be down for international friendlies. I think that weekend is being used for the play off matches for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Just a hunch.

And you're forgeting City are managed by Brian Tinnion and their squad is arguably weaker than the one they started last year with, (lost Miller, Doherty and only made a couple of signings, not sorted out thier real problems).
