Title: Player Sponsorship 2015/16
Post by: Berniman on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, 20:51:41
Ok, so as we still don't know what the squad is really going to look like yet until we start getting the trialist family to sign or some more loan players in.  I will start to put the squad up in the poll later in the week so don't bother voting yet, but in the meantime I thought I should start the thread so that people can start putting their names in the hat for contributions...

Money will start to be collected the first week of August (after payday)..

Anyone that wants in, say so on this thread. Minimum £10 contribution, but if you want more goes at winning a prize just say how much you want to put in..

Go...

Yes we really must work harder this season on hounding out our chosen favourite. Although tbf you'd have thought sending tans along to the sponsors' dinner malarkey would be enough.

Cooper replaced Kasim at the dinner though, and Cooper very nearly left. Perhaps that's how this actually works?

Anyway I'm out as doing the London Reds one, but for anyone interested in having fake auction bids put in for them, even if i dont win I'll be there. you'll be pleased to know.

OK, so the vote is updated with where we are today, I will add/remove players if anything changes.  I have reset the vote, so anyone that did vote previously for Ty or Nathan should vote again.

I have contacted the club to ask for info with no response coming back yet.  Once we hit the first week of August I will start PM'ing you with paypal details so that people can pay up with their nice new fresh pay packet just been opened :)

The vote will run until as late as possible depending on hitting the number we need to hit and getting info from the club (though I suspect we will know the answer well ahead of time)..

Any problems/questions let me know..

Oh, and if I have missed any players/news of changes please keep me updated on this thread so that I can update (I used the squad list thread, so you can blame Costanza).
Cheers
Berni

I have made contact, they have come back to me but are unable to give me details as yet.  Looks like they haven't really sorted out the details as yet.

Having said that, we are nowhere near the figure we will need yet, so unless there is more interest shown it may be a mute point anyway..

If everyone that voted (31 currently) pledged £20.00 then the total would be £620 and almost there. I am up for it if everyone else is. I notice last year the first post started with only vote if your going to donate £10 and there were 85 votes. Looks like take up is significantly down

£20 will get you in the pot twice, £10 once so all good if you still want to put in £10.

I'll leave it a few days for people to opt in and then add up to see where we are.  Still haven't heard back with details from the club yet.  For £650 it will interesting to see what else they chuck in for the money.

Instead of having home player and away player shirts you get the 1 player. Not sure if you get 2 shirts though. As far as I am aware nothing else extra compared to previous years. piss take

Agree. Have a word with the club Berni, we're not a business sponsor and even then they shouldn't keep upping the rates by stupid amounts. It's goodwill after all?

Sorry, only going a tenner if it's not enough then the club can go and fuck themselves for overdoing it. Take heed fellow TEFers  :crash:

So if we retain sponsorship, do we get to fight whoever else sponsored kassim for the right?
Also, won't the sponsor dinner be half the size - if its going ahead.

OK, I have had the details through, exactly the same as last year but with the hike in price, you will sponsor the player outright and not the home/away kit.  We have a week to decide if we want to retain Yasser.

There are some excellent benefits on offer to all player sponsors and they include:
A signed shirt from your sponsored player, to be presented at the Sponsors dinner
A dedicated player appearance (with your sponsored player – one per season)
Four complimentary tickets to the Sponsors dinner. At this event you will spend the
evening with your sponsored player with photograph opportunities
Two complimentary main stand tickets to a Sky Bet home League One game
Acknowledgement of your shirt sponsorship on the shirt sponsors page in the
Match Day Programme for all home games
£650
(INC VAT)

I will do a quick add up of what we have pledged so far so that we can make a decision.

Official list of players released with this information:

Lawrence Vigouroux (GK)
Nathan Thompson (Captain)
Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill
Fabien Robert
Jordan Williams
Jordan Turnbull
Drissa Traore
Yaser Kasim
Michael Smith
Nathan Byrne
Kevin Stewart
Jonathan Obika
Will Randall
Lee Marshall
Josh Cooke
Jermaine Hylton
Tyrell Belford (GK)
Anton Rodgers
Ellis Iandolo
Raphael Rossi-Branco
James Brophy

There are 12 posters still at a tenner, if 10 of those pledge another tenner we will be good.  Either that or shout out to the TEF lurkers out there and get them to pitch in..

We have hit the target due to another PM.

It doesn't have to stop there though if anyone else wants in, as mentioned there were a couple of larger contributors that could drop down if anyone else wants to be in on the draw.

I will notify the club that we want to take up our option on Yasser (as the vote was pretty clear) and start to send out PM's to everyone with the payment details.  When paying please let me know on this thread that you have made payment, and also mark your payment with your forum name so that I can match them, I don't know all of your real names.

Good work to everyone involved.  Barry is hopefully going to provide me with a logo that the club have requested (I am guessing that this is for the program).

I will keep you all informed.

Cheers
Berni

Everyone on this thread that has pledged along with those that PM'd me should now have received a PM from me with the payment details.  I have seen a few payments coming in already, thank you.

Any problems or delays just let me know and I will make it work with paying the club etc.

Once everything is confirmed and we are into the season (probably Sept/Oct) I will set up the draw for prizes again like I did last season.  Prizes will be

1.) Signed Shirt
2.) 2 tickets to the Sponsors Dinner
3.) 2 tickets to the Sponsors Dinner
4.) An opportunity to book Yaser for an event/personal appearance

I will take the free tickets again, unless anyone has any issues with that?  My name will not be in the draw though the same as last year.

I have confirmed to the club that we are taking up our option in Yaser and will be looking at paying (at least a decent lump) by the end of next week, so if possible do your best to get all payments in over the next week.

Cheers
Berni

There are 12 posters still at a tenner, if 10 of those pledge another tenner we will be good.  Either that or shout out to the TEF lurkers out there and get them to pitch in..

To be fair it's closer than I thought it was, I am sure we can find 19 more £10 pledgers?

I'm up for £10 or £20 whichever you need, only just come across the thread...  :girlgiggle:

As mentioned in the thread about Ben Jackson:

Now we seem to be getting extra volunteers for the Player Sponsorship and have surpassed our total, I offered one of the biggest contributors some money back as they had offered quite a lot more than everyone else to get us to our target.  They have declined but suggested that any surplus could be donated to the Stratton Bank roof fund on Neville's behalf, so that Neville's name can be associated with improvement to the CG.

I think this is a great idea.  We could let Neville's family know what we have done, as well as get the Trust to highlight it (if possible).

I would like to know what everyone thinks about this idea before I move forward, but if everyone is in agreement I would like to open this up to anyone that wasn't particularly interested  taking part in the player sponsorship but would like to contribute to this idea for Neville, as I am already in the process of collecting money anyway, it won't take too much effort to open it up to anyone else.

We are already £30/£40 over our target and I think we could get a decent pot together if others that were not necessarily interested in the Player Sponsorship would like to contribute to this idea for Neville.

Feedback would be appreciated.  Donations can be highlighted on this thread or PM'd to me if you would prefer.  However if anyone has any objections then I understand this also.

Let me know your thoughts people.

I am heading down to the club tomorrow, and will probably pay the whole £650 (covering the rest myself) so those that I am waiting on please either pay up or at least let me know when you will be able to pay.

Thanks Guys.

Ok so I have collected £620 so far with another £20 to come in on the 26th when a poster returns from holiday.  So I am going to name and shame the 2 posters that have not paid or responded to my constant chasing.

MarkyTee

If anyone knows these guys outside of the TEF please nudge them and tell them to login and let me know what is going on.  As it stands (once the holiday maker is back) I will be at £640, so if I don't hear from these 2 this week I will be taking their names off of the list and asking for somebody to stump up another tenner for an extra name in the pot for the draw.  (I would put in but I have already contributed £20 and my name is not even going to be in the draw)

Cheers
Berni

I will do this over the next week

Title: Re: Player Sponsorship 2015/16
Post by: Berniman on Saturday, November 7, 2015, 16:14:44
So in preparation:

1st Prize - A signed shirt from your sponsored player, to be presented at the Sponsors dinner
2nd prize - Two complimentary tickets to the Sponsors dinner. At this event you will spend the
evening with your sponsored player with photograph opportunities
3rd Prize - Two complimentary tickets to the Sponsors dinner. At this event you will spend the
evening with your sponsored player with photograph opportunities
4th Prize - A dedicated player appearance (with your sponsored player – one per season)

I am taking the 2 complimentary match tickets but will not be in the pot for the draw.

For every tenner that people contributed means your name is in the pot (so the generous fucker that chucked £50 in will have their name in the pot 5 times)

I will put a number to everyone's name and ask some regular posters (that have not taken part) to pick a number between 1 and ?.  Those that have contributed more than a tenner will have more than one number against their name (not grouped numbers).  I will PM some posters this week to get some numbers.

Once I have all of the responses I will let you know when the winners announcement will take place.  Winners will have to PM me their details so that I can inform the club of those attending etc.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Good luck all

Suprisingly high actually- there's some really good studies out there on what you get back if you ask someone to name a number between 1 and 10 - basically nobody picks from the extremes

Ooh, cheers!

What does that mean exactly? A dedicated appearance?

It means that you can request his attendance at an event (things like presenting trophies at a football do etc.) or meeting a kids team etc.

Last season it could only be done on one night a week (I think Thursdays) and has to be arranged/requested well in advance..  MarkyTee won it last year and I don't think he used it..

If you have any questions or ideas, let me know and I can ask the club.

Will he be allowed entry?  Will he be in full journalist mode?  It should add a bit of spice to the night anyway :D
Just remember Sam, you are there representing TEF...  No fighting with the chairman/owner/occasional manager, or Shaun Hodgetts for that matter..

Congrats..

Just a FYI, I will PM those that are attending:

A night  with Swindon Town Football Club !

Firstly, thank you for sponsoring Yaser Kasim for the 2015/16 season and for your continued support of Swindon Town Football Club.

A date for this year’s Player and Management Sponsors’ Dinner has now been set and will take place on the evening of Tuesday 3rd May 2016 between 7pm and midnight.

The Legends Lounge at the County Ground will once again be the venue with BBC Wiltshire’s Shaun Hodgetts hosting the event. The evening will consist of a two-course meal followed by some after-dinner music from our resident DJ. There will also be a selection of great auction and raffle prizes up for grabs on the night as well.

Throughout the evening, players will be presenting their respective sponsors with a replica of this season’s home shirt. Photo opportunities with players will also be available.

As a 2015/16 player sponsor, you will receive four complementary tickets to the event for you to attend with three guests. Additional guests are also welcome at a price of £30pp (including VAT).

If you wish to attend this year’s Sponsors’ Dinner, please confirm places for any additional guests by 26th April 2016. An itinerary  for the evening will follow in due course.

Thank you once again for your support.

How many tickets do you want?

SwanIsea bid a million for him in January? I find that difficult to believe. If true Power would have sold him, surely.

I liked Kasim when he first joined and there's no doubting his talent, but I'll be glad to see him gone. I don't blame him for wanting to go on to bigger and better things - it's only natural, but I think his attitude is poor and has been for a while. We apparently have an option to sign him up for another year in the summer. I'm guessing Power will take the option and then sell him. But he's not going to get the big name move that he obviously thinks he deserves by playing with the apathy he's shown over the last year.

I read the printed version and it definitely didn't say "Swansea bid £1m" but something far more tentative. "A rumoured £1m move to Swansea never materialised", or something. I wonder why they changed it.

That said, the entire story is a bit behind the times. Not exactly top notch journalism.

Is he still 'one of our most valuable assets' - when does his contract expire, if its this summer (I may be wrong and we have extended it) isn't he essentially worthless now?

you missed out Yaser Kasim flies out to Iraq to play in Asian Cup tournament October/November 2016, but does manage to squeeze in appearances at home to Scunthorpe and away to Southend before he goes. The Scunthorpe game features 2 free kicks which float harmlessly into the Stratton Bank, and another that ends up straight in the keepers hands.

I have been asked by the club to provide our vote for player of the season for the sponsors evening, see below:

Dear Paul,

On Tuesday 3rd May at our Sponsors Evening , we will be presenting Player of the Season. We would like you to please advise us, of your player of the season.

We will then be drawing someone at random from our Sponsors to present this award on the evening.

If I could have your name of the player you wish to vote for, back by 25th April.

I have started a poll off in another thread, all TEF members are welcome to vote and I will submit our choice to the club before the 25th.  I get the feeling that it will be a landslide anyway, but it is not for me to talk for you lot..

Great to see Keith Scott there, first Prem winning goal and all that.

Was there any oddly-easy-to-learn rumours/news?

We got him to ring our mate who is a diehard wycombe fan, Scott was his hero when he was a kid.

No, not any rumours that i can remember of

When luke williams was asked by Shaun regarding where we are aiming to finish next season he replied "don't know really as don't know who is going, who is coming in and if there is any money available" when pushed on table finishing position he replied "maybe playoffs?"
Great all planned out then?

If it was planned out, did you expect him to stand their and detail it all to you? Giving you a list of players leaving, primary and secondary targets, playing budget and exact targeted position for next season?

I expect him to at least say we have targets lined up (power said we had signed 2 already on radio did he not?) that he believes will make a difference. There was nothing just complete apathy.

So he tells Tans or somebody from the TEF in confidence what do you think would happen?  Tans would have sold it on to Sam M. before the evening was out although it may not have knocked Leicester off the back pages!!!  No, the club is right to play their cards tight to their chest, look what happened when we declared an interest in Bradshaw and Nicholls!!

Why when he knows that he could say that we have Messi, Neymar and Suarez lined up the majority of our supporters would moan - it just isn't worth saying anything.....

Sounds more like honesty rather than the standard PR bullshit clubs up and down the country are churning out right now. And I suspect you'd get the same answer at most clubs in Leagues 1 and 2 right now. Impossible to say exactly what their plans are until they know the ins and outs. That doesn't mean they don't have targets, plans, "If we have £x then we can do y or otherwise z" etc. But as others have said, Williams would be a fool to share those at a supporters dinner. Sounds like you'd rather have been fed a standard line?

Never in a million years were we willing to put the cash up for Bradshaw or Nicholls. Power likes to chuck a name here and there of an up and coming lower league player to wet our appetites. Similar to when we went after Connor Goldson. Shrewsbury called our bid for him 'derisory'

Interesting that our supporters will always immediately believe whatever PR other clubs put off about us rather than what the club says?  ::)

So no way would he put up cash for anyone, but then you say he made a bid? I'm confused, if the bid had been accepted then we would have paid cash. Has it come to a point where the power bashers argue with themselves to keep regurgitating the same old unsubstantiated stuff?

you know full well they meant offer the type of cash required to actually be successful.

whether he's doing it to appease fans, to smokescreen around real targets, to unsettle them and act as a stalking horse on behalf of someone else, for shits and giggles  or even because he genuinely thinks we've a chance of signing them ( for peanuts in a sideways move for the player) - nobody can really say.

Title: Re: Player Sponsorship 2015/16

I heard, from a source that I trust to be reliable, that the Bradshaw deal was a goer but didn't go through for reasons other than what was being bid/offered.

That is all, make of it what you will.

Title: Re: Player Sponsorship 2015/16
Post by: Abrahammer on Thursday, May 5, 2016, 11:37:27
I'm still yet to hear a genuine reason with what's wrong with trying to get a bargain in these instances.

The worst thing that can happen is the offer gets turned down, bloody nightmare!  Make 10 of these kinds of bids and 1 will probably suceed.

Yeah you are right, yours is the correct answer, we don't know, but the anti lp brigade do apparently, and use it as a fact every fucking time.

Yeah, agree with that & probably didn't put my point across very well. Could be what DRS has said but I'll stick to my guns. Don't believe Robert is 'injured' for one second. Thompson apparently laid into him in the changing room after the Wigan game for a lack of effort & we've hardly seen him since!
