Can't see anything but a German win myself.

Unless Portugal stick 9 men behind the ball and let Ronaldo hit 'em on the break.

I'm hoping the Munich players are as off-key as Robben was. Should have enough for them anyway but wouldn't be surprised by a score draw.

I can't help admiring the German national side, very efficient, very focused and on most occasions they get to the right end of the tournament. Wouldn't be surprised to see them get to the final.

Surprisingly dull game. Germany look the better team yet Portugal should be 1-0 up - no the ball didn't go over but you shouldn't miss when the ball is virtually on the penalty spot.

Game to be abandoned & Germany punished if their fans don't stop throwing things at the Portugeese players.

Yeah right, like that would ever happen to the Germans

The announcement was even less convincing than the "please stay off the pitch" requests when we won the league.

Bloody hell, bit of an over reaction that'd be, don't you think?

Pretty average stuff, but the kind of football you come to expect from these first set of matches.

Hope the second half improves, which results in a victory for the Gerries.

Good to see the players are being protected from the horrific practice of throwing pieces of paper onto the pitch, whilst trivial matters such as racism are swept aside.

Ever had a paper cut Dave, thought not. They really hurt.

Never give fans stuff to throw.

They gave out hymn sheets for the Gary Speed 'Bread of Heaven' tribute before the Newcastle United vs. Swansea City game. The game was dull and during the second half these sheets started flying on to the pitch as paper planes.

They were reigning down for a few minutes before stewards/police/fans kindly reminded the Geordies that it was a tad insensitive as Speed's family were in attendance. No planes afterwards.

That was the point, why bother to make that sort of announcement when it clearly isn't going to happen.

No worries, like Batch said probably the most pointless announcement since "Please stay off the pitch at the end of the game" at the Port Vale game :)

Very much looking forward to tomorrows games.

Elsewhere, caught the last 10 minutes of Brazil 3-4 Argentina.

Waves of attacking football, a cracking third goal from Messi and a lovely scrap with a red card at the end.

Brilliant.

Didn't think much of either side.

Germans looked ok but far from great.  Portugal lacking the depth they need to play their style of football with any end result

I can see this one being a real open tournament.

Dare I say it, but if England take the right approach and hold their nerve they could actually do ok.

England vs France.

Could be the dullest game the world has ever seen.

Could be a great game.

It game itself could well be dull and probably will be but when England are playing the nerves and adrenaline take over which make the 90 minutes a roller coaster.

Football at the top level is owned by attack minded sides. no-one can defend. I would not be suprised if another greece (i.e a side disciplined in defence) won the euro's this year. and England stand a very good chancew of doing that

Ronaldo fails yet again to perform on the big international stage, how unusual.

Not the best game, but typical of our national side to grind out a result. Mats Hummels & Jerome Boateng were superb.

Bring on the the dutch.

Think you'll find it was Portugal up to their old tricks. Awful tactics, didn't try playing until last half hour.  Germany were alright.

Thought it was pretty dull and disappointing until the last 15 or so. Think we will try and play how Portugal did against France when we play them on Monday

Think that's harsh on Ronaldo. He was portugals best player by a mile - it's not his fault he's surrounded by mediocrity

Mesut Ozul if thats how you spell it, for me was the best player great passer of the ball and and always seemed to be in open space in all areas of the pitch.

Wudnt mind seeing him playing in the prem in the future.
