Watford, Brighton or Crewe, I doubt he would go to any of them, wonder who the 4th club is. I hope if he goes it's a decent club for his sake so he can continue to be succesful. Does look more like he's going now though.

It doesn't say anywhere for definite he will leave or the bids will be accepted.  I hope we get a fair whack otherwise King will see nothing and that would disasterous.  Problem is, if we're going to lose Parkin on a free next summer which I assume the board are anticipating it would be hard to turn down the cash offers.

At least City can't be one of the bidders as all four teams are from a higher level, but if he goes to Brighton I would be very, very disappointed, though I'd still give him a good welcome if he ever came back to the CG.

The way Snady gray said they have to speak to King about these bids makes it sound very much like one is of what the board consider a 'reasonable' offer (probably peanuts!!)

Pack your bags Sam looks like your on way

in all fairness to the board they have turned down all bids so far so anything they accept im sure will be accepted for the right reasons.

How would Brighton have enough money to afford him? They won that 250k but at the time their manager said that would serve basically as his budget?!

Personally if he is going, i would of liked to see him go to watford, because they are looking to do it with a part exchange, and everyone knows we need players, so over 300k + 2 players would be a good deal, take that one, please

Title: Bye Bye Parkin

But no players will want to come as we wouldn't be able to match their Watfrod wages.

Mayo and Jamie Smith.  Fuck off but they're both shit.  A left and a right back.

Firstly, Mayo is a journeyman rejected by club after club, and Smith is a Watford reserve.  We want Parkin.

We should start a "Keep Parkin!" petition and send it to the board once we have enough signatures.

If you want to do some kind of lobbying or petitioning, may I humbly suggest the Borough Council could get some of your attention.

This group of Councillors largely hold the short term future of STFC in their hands......some of them probably don't even realise.....send them a letter or a petition stating why you think having a pro footballl team in the town is important.

We're not brum.  Half-bit online petitions have little value.

Basically, if he goes who can blame him, but after so many players (well 3) leaving to rival clubs in just 2 seasons it'd be a kick in the teeth to go to Brighton.  I don't want Smith or Mayo here either.

Watford would be the only club that Sam would see as attractive. he still has to agree personal terms remember.

Went to a wedding at the weekend at spoke to a mate and his girlfriend. She works with Sam Parkin's sister and after asking if SSP little sis was single  I asked if she'd heard about any transfer stuff.

Baring in mind that this girl knows nothing about footy and to be honest she hates the game, she mentioned Ipswich.

They could well be the 4th club as they have lost Bent and Kuqi.

I think it was on Watfords rivals.net site I saw an Ipswich fan post on the mesage board that they (ipswich) were interested in Sam. So I wouldnt be supprised if it was them.

Ipswich would be the best club for Sam IMO although he would have alot to live up to, in his first season of Championship football.

i just think as soon as he goes,  we wont stop hearing about this un-earthed "gem" and he will be all over the place.

I live in kent and you dont hear anything about his 60ish goals in three seasons. If he joins a bigger club, everyone will know of him which will sort of annoy me because he's been excellent for us and everyone is like ..."sam who????"

Title: Bye Bye Parkin
Post by: Kinky Tom on Monday, June 20, 2005, 11:42:51
I mentioned Ipswich before the end of the season, for me that would be the ideal club for him to go to.  They always play attacking football, so he'd certainly br in the goals, they've also got the money to spend on him.

Another good thing about a possible move to Ipswich would be the incentive add-ons to the deal - we'd be more likely to get a big sum from them for gaining promotion than any of the other clubs involved.  They may also have a couple of good young players who may be willing to come to us - even if it was on-loan for the year (making sure nothing in the deal is as weak as the Spurs' one).

Wonder what sort of figure were going to be talking about?

650k or there abouts at a guess.

Looks like the board are ready to accept this time round just hope that we see some of the money invested back into the team.  Understandably thinks are tight but without his goals next season we are going to have to improve the overall side to compensate and with losing so many players for nothing it'll make it a tough job.

Watford for me they have a bit of cash off Buggery John to spend and should be able to finally stump up the cash.

Anyone know if Chelski actually do have a sell-on clause or is it a rumour that's croped up as I certainly have never read it from any official source?

Title: Bye Bye Parkin
Post by: magicroundabout on Monday, June 20, 2005, 11:55:14
a Rumour is, is that Ipswich have offered £650k upfront + £400k on promotion + 10% sell on.

Have also heard Chelski have a 50% sell on.
surley this is all wrong.

That's a nice deal think we should really look at taking something in that neck of the woods.

50% Sell on though is horrific hopefully if there is a clause it's a lot less than that.

Title: Bye Bye Parkin
Post by: le god cuervo on Monday, June 20, 2005, 12:12:36
i heard it was around about 50%, but not entirely sure. anyway chelsea dont need the money they should scrap that bit of the contract! would just be pocket money to abramovich.

maybe sam will log on & tell us, he checks the internet dont u know  8)

Quote
Supporters may jump to the Watford conclusion because it is relatively close to Parkin’s London home, but the man himself is keen to destroy the myth.

He said: “I obviously listen to what’s being said and I look at the internet.

“I see some people saying I wouldn’t be interested in leaving London. That just isn’t true.”

maybe a deal with Chelski if the sell on is 50% could be done on that kid they wanted.

Basicly scrap the 50% sell on and let them have the kid + a pre-season friendly at theres.

Dean Ashton and Sam Parkin up front next season for Norwich - fucking hell that'd be awesome.

this is from the evening argus brightons local paper

ALbion have been priced out of landing prolific striker sam parkin.
chairman dick knight had talks with his swindon counterpart willie carson and made a 'speculative offer' but the seagulls have been overtaken by chamionship rivals ipswich and norwich.
swindon are believed to be willing to accept around £700000 for the former chelsea marksmen.....

at least those cunts wont get their grubby paws on him

Would be a cracking front line, I'd defnately opt for Norwich out of those listed so far they seem to be the better equipped to make a crack at the Premiership and should have some cash with the parachutte payment from the Premiership.

Great to see Brighton priced out of a move!

definitley. And maybe Watford also.
Those 2 clubs will be fighting relegation not promotion.
I believe SSP would do excellent at either Norwich or Ipswich

I can just see him playing for ipswich.... before any of the speculation came out i thought it would be reading or wigan, but they obviously are not interested.... so next one would of been ipswich.... i think it will be close to us

Title: Bye Bye Parkin
Post by: McLovin on Monday, June 20, 2005, 13:15:07
He and Ashton are a bit similar, i'd opt for Ipswich in his position.

Norwich would probably be able to pay more though, so that would be nice.

I remember reading somewhere a few months ago that the clause was 30%

it does look good but Norwich or Ipswich wont want to be outbid by each other so it could raise the bids slightly.

If we got as much as £700k for him I'd be surprised and happy with that, Chelsea get a 1/3 according to Sandy Gray but other places have said 25%, I hope it's not 50%.

Title: Bye Bye Parkin
Post by: Piemonte on Monday, June 20, 2005, 14:12:09
£700k is more than I thought we'd get for him. That would leave us with £462k assuming the sell on clause to Chelsea is 30%.

Give King £100k to spend on player wages, stick the rest away for the CVA payment.

Title: Bye Bye Parkin
Post by: Dazzza on Monday, June 20, 2005, 15:37:12
Could do a fair bit with a tasty 100k especially if it's put mainly towards the playing budget rather than to be used on transfer fees.

Perhaps that's why things haven't really progressed to much on the transfers front yet.

Perhaps we could even try and negotiate with Chelski and whoever bids to take the commission over.  Unlikely but from their point of view may mean more cash in the future if he does well at Championship level.

Shame Sheffield United are not one of the four as the chances are Luke Beckett would have been part of the deal.

King did talk about a replacement for SP if he left at the end of the season, whether or not that's still the case I don't kow.

Title: Bye Bye Parkin
Post by: ITFCrazee on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, 17:26:24
Beckett is on a free transfer aint he?

Well you lot are Swindon fans, do you honestly think Parkin would be good enough fir the championship?

Title: Bye Bye Parkin
Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, 17:30:20
Without a doubt.

I honestly believe - bias aside - that Parkin would score 15-20 goals a season in a decent side in the Championship, I think he could probably do a job in the Premiership at a push.

Don't think we can afford him, but I fail to see why it would be a step down.

We would only sign him on a "shortish" term contract anyway because of the stadium situation. He would put himself in the shop window at..

Selhurst Park
Elland Road
St. Marys
Vicarage Road
Carrow Road
Portman Road

Shall I go on ?

Look what happened to Darren Currie. Lower league journey man, revitalised by Brighton and signs for Ipswich.
