Just want to make a few points after reading this thread.
Maybe Paolo has never come out and denied suing the club because he's leveraging for some sort of pay-out that can be (and most probably will be) sorted amicably rather than through a court case.
Jed never wanted to keep Di Canio. Let's not play silly buggers here people.
Peace
I really don't get why this is apparently so obvious, not trying to play devil's advocate, defend the board or anything like that - I really don't get it. Maybe the board couldn't afford his salary but why force him out? Surely if they're dodgy and want to make money out of the club then keeping it's arguably most important asset would be top of the agenda? Skimp on the playing budget or something else instead.

That's just how I saw it.
Truth is that probably Di Canio wasn't keen either.

Truth is that probably Di Canio wasn't keen either. Given his ultimatum(s) and the subsequent immediate departure of himself and his entire staff, that is definitely obvious.

Suited both parties but I don't buy Jed coming out and saying that he tried all he could to keep him.
That's bollocks.

As I said I just don't understand how the board benefited by Di Canio leaving.
The only person who benefited from the whole clusterfuck was the man himself who is now plying his trade in the top division and after some brief negative media attention he is now the darling mastermind of passion personified.

I don't think Jed wanted to deal with Di Canio.

Fair enough. I guess it's all elementary now and a bit pointless arguing, the incumbent board might not be here much longer anyway.

He didn't like the hand grenade bit at all. I think he responded to that within hours.
Yep and following the Ritchie transfer, that was about 24 hours. I'm sure there was at least one more as well, but can't think what?

Because the team were so inspiring on the pitch, weren't they!?
What's that got to do with anything? You sing and support your team. Portsmouth fans and Plymouth fans sing for 90 minutes non stop away from home, regardless of how things are going.

Because everybody was too fucking depressed to sing. Next time I'll wear a stupid hat and ring a cow bell for 90 minutes. Only if that make's you happy though?

I thought the support was very good to be honest, even at 2-0 we didn't stop singing.

Just saw the highlights. The first half was worse than I remember, and I remember it being shocking! Forgot they hit the woodwork twice in addition to their 'barn door' finishing.

Went a bit overboard on the Jaegers pre match and don't remember much after half time, which may make me one of the lucky ones. Evidently fell over once or twice. Nice to make the acquaintance of Donkey and Red Frog before the game
