so here we are looking at posible religation with a squad that is in tatters.so many players undecided on their futures,a real lack of determination on the pitch,commonsense not playing a big part in team selection[international players not making the first eleven in a league one side].frank bruno as a striker and migs just performing ballet in football boots.so can someone please tell me where is the 300k from fallons sale.call me old fashioned but i think we just might need to invest in a player or two.  :|

we can't buy players outside the transfer window anyway. we can only get 'emergency' loan players between now & the end of the season, and if they're all like trevor benjamin i'd rather keep the team we have.

am i the only one that thinks we would be better off with a player/manager?

Good point - it's all very well having money to spend, but if there's nothing much out there, there's no point spending it for the sake of it.

i think iffy would do a grand job for us as a player aswell,shame he's a bit old and fatter now though

fair play to iffy for having a go but i dont think he.s wot we need to take us forward.he was a cheap option after kings pay off.in this time of doom and gloom its important to be proactive and not reactive.

I wonder how close we came to covering that this season after Elton, Sam and Rory's contribution.

Probably the lower gates will have had an effect and swallowed some of it up.

I do have a bit of a question as to how the operating loss relates to the quoted break even figures given for ticket pricing and attendances and how they correlate over the past couple of seasons.

I think the author of this thread has got his name spot on.

Willie had a hot tip on the 3.30pm at Sandown on the Saturday after we sold Fallon.  300k on the nose.  The horse pulled up lame.  Parkin's money went on bluffed hand at Poker and Elton's money was rolled into spliffs and smoked during our pre season scouting missions.

There's not sand for miles round these parts. he'd end up smacking his head on tarmac if he tried that.

We were never going to re-invest the Fallon money, really Peacock is his replacement.

Iffy claims it wasnt....maybe to him it wasnt but that was always the case.

For the record [just incase anyone doesnt know!] I dont think we should have sold him to start with

trouble is he would have gone in the summer for free.

but if he could have kept up his form we would have had a better chance of staying up, which is worth more to me than 300k none of which the fans will ever see.....

True, but Parkin was a better player, a much better player and deserved better than us.

He stayed loyal for 3 season, he signed a contract extension so he couldnt go on a free, which guranteed the club some money.

I reckon if we had Parkin up until January we would be top half.

Quite possibly....but we were always going to have to let him go at some point, because he was too good for us and League One

Where as I think League One is Fallons level....

Fallon's and Parkin's sale are typical examples of the imcompitance of the board! yes we need to pay debts but we need money on the team too! we haven't received the latter and thats why we are where we are today

I would love to see the board come up with 100k from nowherebut the club simply cannot afford to spend money on players. Especially with sub 5000 attendances! We just have to accept that this team is the best we can do and hope it keeps us up. Then we can look at finances for next season.

It wasn't a straight £300k anyway, there would have been performance and promotion bonuses in there as well.
So some of the money is still in Wales.

glad i didnt pay 300k for him though.if u asked most fans wot they thought when parkin left,the answer i got was......"great.so we,re left with fuckin fallon".it took a spell at yeovil to get his act together,but now he,s at a club with a dressing room full of strikers,he doesn,t seem to be able to punch his wieght. :beers:

Of course, that's the answer. We must spend money on buying players, why did nobody think of that before. We must all send a message to Iffy and the board at once because at last we have salvation in that we have discovered that we should buy new players, WHAT A BREAKTHROUGH......

At the end of the day i'd rather have a football team to support than have is risked going into admin etc due to poor investment of money. Even if we did have money to spend there's no guarentee iffy (not a dig at him personally) would bring in a suitable replacement. I mean we've brought in good players on frees this season like peacock cureton and on paper even thorpe etc.
The long term well being of the club financially is much more important in my opinion and although we may go down this season whos to say we wont put together a quality squad for next season on the cheap.
