Hope Powell is one of the most respected coaches around. It would be interesting and let us be honest, she'd be 100x better than Mike Newell if the Grimsby players respect her. I imagine being replaced by a woman coach would make Newell boarderline suicidal.

Maybe a problem before and after the games though in the changing rooms with the guys getting changed getting in the baths etc, not sure how female ref's or line person's get on if they are happy to get changed in front of their male colleagues or insist on their own area

Powell says she has had no contact with Grimsby, so I guess we'll never know.

Female physios emerged into the sport with relative ease, why not coaches with the amount of experience as Hope Powell? Football coaching is universal is it not?

Not in our house. Being told what to do by a woman is standard modus operandi. And I'm very grateful for it, along with the comprehensive list of my shortcomings and detailed advice on how to rectify every one of them.

I've had bosses who were female it's no big deal.

Unless of course you're unsure of your own masculinity and feel threatened by it.

No but she is a reading "fan" so that shows her extent of football expertise. I asked her what the name of Reading's old stadium was, she didn't even know the name of the current one despite being a "fan", well she is from reading so hence why she dislikes Swindon supposedly..

If she's good enough, shes good enough. She's completely qualified - she's got the UEFA Pro licence, and led a successful England team (how many people have done that?)

If people won't play for her because she's woman, she'll ship them out and get players who will.

To be honest, Grimsby should be grateful to get her.

In all seriousness good luck to her but it smells like a publicity stunt and one that was done in Italy a few years ago and ended up in tears. 

It’s one of those environments that I can’t ever imagine women integrating into more so when part of a manager’s pedigree is considered having played the game even at a basic level.  Yes, she has played women’s football and is a cracking coach and while she’s technically adept I just can’t see players working for her.

It does stink of a publicity stunt, but men have got to stop losing territory to women. First they get the right to vote, then they get the right to go into golf clubs, now they want to manage football clubs... this madness has got to stop. Maybe someone should start a political party to force women back into the home and back to their rightful roll as provider of blow jobs.
