Right added a few more things that I've noticed people messing up. If you have a question on how to do a forumy thing then don't be scared to pm or start a topic.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right I'm fed up of you etards fucking it up and posting seven things of the same video.

Ignore all the stuff which says embed with the complex code stuff. All you need to do is put the address. The forum sorts it for you.

Like that. (infact there I had to use extra code there to stop it showing the video.)

.

Lovely.

Right. Quotes.

Some of you seem to regularly fuck up quotes and it's angered my forum tidyness chip; it is an anal chip. The most common mistake seems to be writing your reply in the bottom of the quote by mistake.

When you hit the quote button above somebody's post, you'll get some gubbins like this appearing in your reply box...
Code:
[quote author=flammableBen link=topic=29986.msg583463#msg583463 date=1219529285]

Make sure you write your reply after the bit which says [/quote].

If you're quoting a few different things and you want to write the text around each one, then hitting the quote button above a post will insert the quote gubbins where your flashy text cursor is. Just make sure that none of your reply is between the opening [quote] and the closing [/quote].

If someones written a list and you want to add your own ratings or something, then by all means add it between the quotes, but it makes it easier for everybody to read if you make your changes by surrounding each one with bold tags [b][/b].

It's generally not a race on the forums and it's almost always worth hitting the preview button and reading your post. It only takes a few seconds.

Also this is a good excuse to bump the youtube posting advice, even if it is stickied.

Still on quotes. It's nice if you use them when copy and pasting an article from elsewhere, especially if you've commented on it underneath. It makes it easier to see where the article ends and your comments begin and if anybody quotes your post for your comments then we only get your comments in the quote, and not the entire article quoted again.

This is piss easy to do. Just write your own quote tags

Code:
[quote]
Pasted article text
[/quote]

Then write your own comments under the last quote.

If it's an internet article then make sure you link to the original as well.

Right. Pictures!

Si pie has covered this already.
EDIT: After some mega bumpage, there is now an easier way to post pictures.

1) Click the reply button/new topic in the topic/forum you want to put it in.
2) Underneath the box where you write your reply, click on 'additional options'.
3) You can then browse for the picture on your pc and upload it directly to your post.

Pish.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Due to the increasingly large numbers of people asking this question, it's easier to write it the once.

1) Save your picture in the .jpg format.
2) Go to www.photobucket.com and sign up (doesn't take long).
3) Next the upload image box is the browse button, click it and select the file you wish to upload.
4) When the picture is added, underneath you will notice there are 3 boxes with the image location. Copy the bottom one (IMG).
5) Paste the location you copied into your post. Voila, picture posted.

If you want to post a picture already on t'interweb, just copy the image's location and paste into your post using the [img][/img] tags around the image location

Cheers si you sexy sexy hobbit.

There's a few questions answered in the old image thread here.

go there if you get stuck.

Another thing I've noticed is that links to facebook do not work - the link is correct but it won't be clickable meaning people have to copy and paste into another window/tab. For example this link here:

http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=135332766510196&ref=ts

You'll notice the /#! in the middle of the link. You can just edited those out so now your link is this:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=135332766510196&ref=ts

And it now works Smiley

I would like to take this opportunity to not only bump all this, but to update the picture advice. There's no longer any need to sign up for photobucket (there hasn't for a long long time). http://imgur.com/ is cleaner, nicer to use, and you don't even have to sign up - although you still can if you like having an online album you want to check back on.
