Wiltshire is a pile of shite. Swindon has far more in common with Cirencester, Cheltenham, Burford, Witney, Faringdon etc than it does with Salisbury, Trowbridge etc.
Just the name Wilts makes me cringe.

Now that film does remind me of the Flamingo club at Saturdays at the County Ground.

Wiltshire is wonderful. Lovely countryside, quaint villages and great walks. I had a stroll to this gem yesterday.

True to an extent, but there is a story underlying much of what we see, which isn't so wonderful.

Wiltshire has some important historical sites but in terms of the countryside it is no more remarkable than anywhere else. Of course, it is natural to feel very strongly about where you live. I suspect that this is hightened where you have not lived elsewhere or seen much of what the British isles have to offer.

Brunel rooms in the 80's was ace. Sleeping it off in the car park before driving home to Newbury not so ace.
Did it have a rotating bar or something like that, I vaguely recall coming through from Witney one night only time I have ever been out in Swindon.

When I was 16/17 I had a weekend job at Hygrade in Chippenham. 0600-1400 on Saturdays/Sundays and despite the decent pay, I dreaded it all through the week.
They used to have the radio on the factory speakers and there are a collection of songs from that time which were on GWRs heavy rotation. Almost 20 years on and I still shudder/experience flashbacks whenever I hear those songs....
They Include:
'Keep on Moving' by Five 'Spinning Around' by Minogue 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)' by Spiller 'It Feels So Good' by Sonique 'Music' by Madonna 'Out of Your Mind' by Truesteppers 'Beautiful Day' by U2 'I'm Outta Love' by Anastacia 'Babylon' by David Gray 'Fill Me In' by Craig David 'I Turn to You' by Mel C 'Life is a Rollercoaster' by Ronan Keating 'Breathless' by The Corrs 'Black Coffee' by All Saints 'Whole Again' by Atomic Kitten 'Lady (Hear Me Tonight)' by Modjo 'Rock DJ' by Robbie Williams 'Don't Stop Moving' by S Club 7 'It Wasn't Me' by Shaggy 'Love Don't Cost a Thing' Jennifer Lopez
On a similar theme I worked in shops and then erecting marquees in the early 90's and we always had Fox FM on. They seemed to play Take the Weather With You by Crowded House about 3 times a day for about 5 years!

That was the big secret if you were going with new out of towners. Send them to the bar and watch the confusion from afar when they'd been served and thought everyone had buggered off.
