Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, February 9, 2009, 23:11:46 I'd forgot we were even playing... Shame on me.
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Bogus Dave on Monday, February 9, 2009, 23:17:13 I predict a lacklustre defeat and the bubble bursting, in the eyes of the media at least
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, February 9, 2009, 23:25:13 A loss against Spain would hopefully result in the expectations of the media and whacky fans staying at a reasonable level.
A win? Well, we're World Cup Champions in waiting :) It's a nothing game. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Luci on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, 08:43:57 And possibly a load of racial abuse from the Spanish fans.
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, 11:42:02 And possibly a load of racial abuse from the Spanish fans. Possibly? Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: JPC82 on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 18:11:08 good to see Villa dominating the england team, Heskey Milner Barry and one of Young or Agbonlahor expected to start
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: axs on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 18:12:34 I'd have liked to have seen young and gabby start.

Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 18:18:31 I thought Agbonlahor previously said wanted to play for Nigeria or something like that
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Barry Scott on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 19:40:11 Possibly? I expect nothing less than full blown monkey chanting resulting in a whopping fine of about €1.20 ...And loads of comments from Blatter about how England should not be allowed fans. This will probably be after England fans react to this racial hatred, with loud and threatening chanting, which the police had no choice but to contain with batons and tear gas. Or there'll be some other bollocks from the bloke who has the worst case of verbal diarrhoea this side of the birds from 2 girls one cup. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: cib on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 20:10:03 I thought Agbonlahor previously said wanted to play for Nigeria or something like that I think he said it was a possibility if he wasn't getting a sniff for England. But he played in Berlin earlier in the season and has been in the squad a couple of times now so thats that Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: JPC82 on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 20:22:58 bit dissapointed with the team,
wright-phillips and downing both starting is shit Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: DiV on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 20:32:41 Happy to see Jags, Carrick and Barry starting.

Bugger 1-0 Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: axs on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 21:58:09 We have been holding them well in midfield but we have no threat down the wings whatsoever. Get walcott on.
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: ronnie21 on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:03:24 that was a good goal It was a good finish, but came about from a sloppy pass from Jagielka from the back! I think the last 20 minutes has shown a big gulf in class, the spanish are the real deal!Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: red socks on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:18:57 We're getting a footballing lesson, its like Arsenal v Stoke :)
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: dell boy on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:24:03 Both sides haven't come out of second gear yet it really is being played as a warm-up match for those more important fixtures later in the season, you just fancy Spain can go to third much easier than England though.
Spain have had ONE shot on target in the game and scored, and only four off target. England have had three off target and had Heskey fouled and the player should receive a red card and the linesman gives Heskey off side - would hardly call it a football lesson. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: red socks on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:31:19 I mean just in terms of keeping possession and looking like their players are comfortable on the ball, we could sneak a goal or two and get a result (much like stoke could against arsenal) but we don't have their class
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Batch on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:32:41 tappy tappy tap tap zzzzzzzzzz

Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:50:09 What a gap in quality between Spain and England even for a friendly. Sad really.
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Bennett on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:50:43 agreed. england have looked pitiful, carrick is shite. total shite

Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: red socks on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:53:39 agreed. england have looked pitiful, carrick is shite. total shite He's never looked the same player since he left us to be fair :) I just can't understand why Stuart Downing is in the side, I have never seen him have a good game Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Bogus Dave on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:53:54 I predict a lacklustre defeat and the bubble bursting, in the eyes of the media at least Was i right? Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:57:03 Tee-Hee 90th minute and David Pleat thinks this match is "lost".
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 22:59:45 David Pleat is a cockmuncher of the highest order. I really feel the need to stab him.
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 23:05:29 Shouldn't Mr. ITV man be talking about the match and not David Beckham?

That created an image in my head that i really don't want there........ Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: DMR on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 04:37:31 hehe, all you bummers going on about jagielka and gabby a and they were both fucking abysmal
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Bennett on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 08:11:47 i don't think that you can say gabby was abysmal, the ball only ever came to him shitely in a shite position.
i expect there to be more to come from him as he's actually quite good Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Rich Pullen on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 08:17:53 hehe, all you people I secretly like but I pretend I hate you all going on about jagielka and gabby a and they were both fucking abysmal Yep. I wanted Agbonlahor to perform well but was ultimately el rubbish. Jagielka against Spain was asking for trouble. Our more established players were no better. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: LucienSanchez on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 08:48:48 The wingers were poor decisions, and although not responible for the defeat, i found some of the ref's decisions baffling.
Oh, and 108 caps is not a record. Come back and tell me all about it when he beats Shilton. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 09:13:03 i went to bed at half time as the game showed we have fuck all quality in england.
Downing, Barry, Boggyhore, Cole, Carrick and johnson are fucking fringe players for San Marino let alone England. No creativity, no skill, gutless challenges and half arssed players. Downing couldn't cross a fucking T and Wright Phillips. Run WITH the ball next time please. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 09:21:44 i went to bed at half time as the game showed we have fuck all quality in england. Downing, Barry, Boggyhore, Cole, Carrick and johnson are fucking fringe players for San Marino let alone England. I disagree. Overall we didn't play badly, Spain were just much much better than us. It's not every week that Englands players are up against a midfield that are just constantly interchanging positions, they just couldn't handle them. And the players you mention - Downing is the only genuine left sided winger we've got, Barry's probably the best defensive midfielder we've got, Agbonlahor when given the right service is a very decent striker and Cole and Johnson are the most in form players in their positions at the moment. I agree about Carrick though, he just can't seem to perform at international standard. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 09:28:23 Was good to see crouch carried on his seasons form of being utter shite. Lets be honest though Spain are a different class and if we can learn from that then great
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 09:48:06 i'm taking nothing away from Spain with my comments as they showed they're quality but we couldn't cope with them.
Johnson seriously never got near a ball all first half. Barry i only heard his name once and that was when they called the teams out. Boggyhore i don't rate as an international. Club yes. England No. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 09:51:26 i'm taking nothing away from Spain with my comments as they showed they're quality but we couldn't cope with them. Agree they were poor the players you mention but then Johnson was up against world class and Neville would probably play in a more important match,Gabby will not play ahead of rooney and Barry not ahead of gerrard.Lets face facts we put out a average team and still only lost due to two defensive mistakes and spain did not cause any other problems bar that. Johnson seriously never got near a ball all first half. Barry i only heard his name once and that was when they called the teams out. Boggyhore i don't rate as an international. Club yes. England No. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: cib on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 10:57:58 Gabby will not play ahead of rooney and Barry not ahead of gerrard.Lets face facts we put out a average team and still only lost due to two defensive mistakes and spain did not cause any other problems bar that. Gabby won't be ahead of Rooney, Heskey, Owen or Defoe I'd imagine if they were to be playing well prior to a game. But I disagree about Barry, he's played moreorless every game for Capello and is in the side to compliment either Gerrard or Lampard. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 11:07:17 Good point and to be fair bar last night has done well
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: adje on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 11:37:23 What happened to James "Swindon til he dies" Milner?
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: chalkies_shorts on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 12:01:21 Spain were by far the superior side. Xavi and Senna were both class. Spain gave a classic lesson in playing the ball on the floor and movement off the ball.
I thought our back 4 were garbage - particularly Jagielka and Johnson who both have a lot to learn. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: DiV on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 12:12:50 over paid losers
never going win anything they are all rubbish *usual shite posted after England lose a game* The one thing I didnt get, is there a more in form English player than Ashley Young right now. Why can he not get a game ahead of Stewart fucking Downing? Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 12:44:59 I didn't watch the match, but it seems as though we more or less fielded our B team.
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 12:48:42 You would be right and that b team restricted possibly the best team in the world to just 2 shots on target
Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: Colin Todd on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 13:07:31 I dont think our players need a caning after that given that Spain are seriously fucking good and fielded pretty much their 1st XI. There is no disgrace at losing to the best international team in the world right now.
We were misssing 4 of our better players in J cole, Rooney, Gerrard and Ferdinand. Thier replacements are nowhere near as good. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: dell boy on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 13:13:43 I don't think Spain are the best in the world at the moment, they are ranked best but have some weak areas and better sides than England will exploit.
Mainly there defence, it looked very poor to me and could not handle Wright-Phillips (who on the world stage is just an average performer) when he ran at them. Midfield was just decent, nothing special and not a wow factor, in both those departments I'm positive England could match them any day of the week. What we cannot match and haven't for years is the forward line, we have nothing nearing world class in this country, in total contrast Spain have an abundance of world class forward talent. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: strooood on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 13:38:54 I disagree. Overall we didn't play badly, Spain were just much much better than us. I agree about Carrick though, he just can't seem to perform at international standard. Did i miss something yesterday was he injured or something because for him not to start was utterly, utterly ludicrous. the best English player this season in the Premier League. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: STFC4LIFE on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 14:00:52 Downing, Jagielka, Wright Phillips and Johnson are nowhere near good enough for international level in my opinion.
Barry and Carrick could be, so could Ashley Cole when we looks like he gives a fuck. I think only 3 or maybe 4 players that started last night would make it into my first XI. Title: Re: Spain v England Post by: mexico red on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 20:05:57 ashley young on left, theo walcott on right , heskey and rooney up the middle, not many teams could cope with that.
