I am a35 years old who might have to quit alcohol because of health problems. Basically I have a faulty gut valve which means that my gut juices are trying to digest my whole body and alcohol has a tendency to leave that valve open.

I like drinking, I like the taste of a good beer, I love sharing a beer with friends, I like getting drunk and I am a good drunk. Even when I am a bad drunk I like the various adventures that I get involved in.

All that might have to go though

Ouch.........

sounds like hard drugs time.

Seriously though, if its give it up or have serious health issues then I there isn't a choice to be made is there. Pretty shitty as it is.

Just by some needles and inject a small amount of Vodka when your mates are already pretty much fucked. Job done. Or soak a tampon in vodka and stick it under your armpit for a while or up your arse. Don't know whether the armpit thing works but arse would. Smiley

35? I would have put you at mid to late 20's, BR.

Can't you get an operation to fix this? One of my friends had a similar problem with a duff gut valve. He had an op and is fine now, drinks like a fish with turbocharged gills.

Thats more than a bit shit. I have been t total for over 6 weeks and the getting drunk part is strangely what I havent missed but I have been craving a pint like theres no tomorrow. I suggest substituting the booze with something else. I've been smoking like a trooper to compensate.

Bit of an arse BR, but Batch is right, and I can honestly say the thought of giving up booze is harder than actually doing it. First few months are shit but you just get used to it as the alternative is you die (in my case). Oddly enough it's exactly one year today since I last touched alcohol (aged 35 then/hole in heart caused mainly by drink etc).

Happy days http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v728/sussex_red/neutral.gif

I have a Hiatus Hernia (broken gut valve as it were) I had it operated on and I can drink fine, the acid is still a problem but I dont give a fuck.

Eat drink and be merry....but get put on Pariet (rabeprazole) and have a totally unhealthy dose of gaviscon ready at all times and you will be fine!

Try some of this, BR. It might do the trick.

Man up and kick the booze, for your sake and just as importantly for your wife and daughter's.

That is all.
