Good article. It's pretty much the same story from that mini documentary on YouTube a while back. But it is quite a story!

Good on Yas.

Being a bit bored I've been watching the Kasim videos on youtube that the Iraqi account puts together - https://www.youtube.com/user/NewIraqiPlayers/videos

They must have access to full match coverage. How have they got hold of this? Any ideas? I wouldn't mind watching some of those games myself.

when the opposition score do they play Jihad All Over?

Yeah, I'm definitely not above that kind of pun.

No, you are not.

Perhaps we should start singing "Koran you redssssssssssssssssss" at corners

Anyone know whether Mass can play against Posh? I heard Yas can play.

Mass played 64 minutes for Australia today in a 2-1 defeat to Japan.

Doesn't answer your questions though Gnasher! Sorry!

I'm guessing Oz have got another game this week (Iraq are playing again on Thursday).

Both should be able to play depending if they get back in time, and are fit enough to play.

If Iraq win on Thursday then they might get through to the next round. They haven't won in a while though so the chances are probably slim. Next round is on the 23rd so no Yasser if they were to progress.

Okey dokey, seems a bit harsh on Yaser if they were to progress.

On the way to the airport. Too bad I couldn't stay longer. Goodluck to the Iraq national team for the rest of the tourney :)

Hmm, glad to have him in a town shirt but I'm old fashioned and this was a tourney. National team > Club team

BBC WR confirmed that Mass is flying back to the UK today.

I can't work out whether we prevented him from stay because FIFA rules said we could, or whether he HAD to come back because FIFA rules said he must.

Despite the fact Iraq are due to continue their Gulf Cup campaign against the UAE on Thursday, Town have been allowed to recall their star midfielder from international duty early due to the closure of the FIFA international window.

Whatever that means!

The tournament that Iraq are playing in is not a FIFA registered event (so probably fairer and less subject to corruption) and therefore not covered by FIFA rules. Therefore whilst we could not stop his abscence during the international break once that ends I assume it was only at our discretion?

This is why Town were looking to keep Kasim for the Bristol City game but because the first two games fell under the FIFA window then there was nothing they could do.
