You are all going to hate me.
Last night of the proms. Not really watched it in the past in at any length, kind of thought it was not my thing even though I do like certain classical music pieces. Thouroughly enjoyed the last night, rousing stuff.
Why would anyone hate you for liking the Last Night of the Proms? Some wonderful music in the classical repertoire, can genuinely move the soul

That’s great! Dogs have been a huge part of my life for a long time. Fuckers still bring me to tears.

Sometimes I prefer them to some of the humans I know.

Hope it's on the mend now. Don't care what people say, dogs ARE part of the family.

Off on our first holiday in 2 years tomorrow.
My house is now 16 months into its refurb, over budget and still not in a livable state, so I’m just happy my foresight meant this was booked before the house destroyed our finances.
On another plus side, it’s due to be finished able to have people living in it by the end of October, albeit with no kitchen and a few rooms still requiring work. I can’t see this being finished for a good year yet.

Don't think anyone would dispute that.

Would it have been cheaper/quicker to knock it down and start again?

Haha, we’ve said the same. Trouble is we love the house (and fucking hate it as well) so once you start you can’t really stop. It literally went back to a brick shell with a roof. Also, 16 months makes it sound worse than it is. We spent 16 weeks in planning and the builder is a mate and does it foc at weekends. Although none of the other contractors work free at the weekends sadly.

You should have a South East USA house, you'd have been able to knock it down and re-build within a few months. Saw our one being built, still worried if we lean on it from the outside whether it will fall over to be honest. Makes them cheap to remodel and fix though - which I think is the point given the potential for bad weather (we get a Tornado alarm test first Weds of every month).
