I've never been so bored at a game. Not one song of substance, not suprising given the cold and the attendance though. Vale brinign about 12 didn't help though, granted.

But that 20 minute barrage of seat banging and 'barmy army' in the second half, fuck me is that gay or is that gay? We ain't Pompey ffs.

I thought there was a bit of singing in the TE ,it was cold though Dave and they ran out of Bovril! Now thats a moaning thread worth making.

well, might aswell chant dave, not much else to do and thats what i generally do in the town end.

I join in with almost every chant though. Johno, Duffers and I kept the RED ARMY chant going for about ten minutes in the TE and everybody joined and left it when they felt like it!
Have to say though that with a half full TE you can't expect too much.

Absolute bollocks. The Wigan game 3 seasons ago there were about 600 fans in there and it was mental.

Town End was fantastic that day. Proper hardcore.

Good point DST/SW......there was only just over 5,000 that day,  helps though when the players are clearly putting it in, remember even Oolit was tackling that day and DI played his best ever game.

Then a month later, the QPR game was EVEN better. No hangers on mate. Just pure nutters.

RIP The Town End - The Casuals End.

I was in the TE for that and that was fucking barmy when SSP scored. Like the lob last season too.

  If we get something at Donny to keep us thereabouts, the Bormufff game could  get a bit of atmosphere.....I daresay a few will come out of hibernation.

Dave its people like you that kill the atmosphere.  Town End should be over 21s only, and I'm 18....

I'm migrating to the EDIT Nationwide as even I'm getting pissed off with the number of leary wannabe hardmen kids and that's saying something.  The atmosphere will always be crap on a cold Wednesday night when boring football is being played, but Bournemouth game should be alive - if its not you have to question why the fans bother coming?!  I mean, it's one of the biggest games of the season in terms of we are in direct competition with Bournemouth for that lost playoff spot, or two....

i think it was one of the most utterly batty things when people say "oooh you're 15 you're not allowed to be in here" or "ooooh you gotta have a henri lloyd cap and be well up for a stan smith in the teeth after the game or you're not allowed in here" its GAY, you can go wherever you want if you're paying the money for fuck's sake.

and then saying you're not allowed to sing red army because pompey sang blue army a few times last season- that's even battier.

Dex: so a stand full of pubescent teenage boys, most of whom on these boards confess to having other team's close to their hearts, will create an atmosphere that many are after?  I've heard a host of complaints from Town End regulars regarding the ever decreasing ages of the Town End faithful.  Of course its unfair to discriminate i.e.: women are allowed to football matches(!), but it will inevitably have a detrimental impact on the atmosphere.

If Mr Russell wants a Town End akin to the Kop then there should be gender and age restrictions!   :D

I understand completely why you think that people under 15 or whatever should not be allowed in, but considering that (for example) me and Johno join in with almost every chant and start some off ourselves, it would ahve been unfair to not let us in. No?

yeah, are you saying the town end has never been absolutely booming? well we all know it has- that was without any sortof restrictions. who gives a fuck about pre pubescent boys? to coin a cliche, they are the future, and what better way to get hooked than to be in the town end when parkin slams home a last minute winner infront of you.

Well said dex. I think the main problem is people who sit on the left hand side. They sit down for 90 minutes and the right hand side is always louder (I sit bang in the middle).
If the left made as much noise as the right we would be making three huge steps in the right direction! :P

people go in the town end beacause it's the cheapest stand. this is why not everyone is there to chant

Rather than have a limit on the age to get in you should have a limit to get the oldies out, they should be in the Arkells wiv every1 else over 50.

Coming in late on this one I know,but  I was sat at the far end of the Nationwide that game and gay or not, I would rather have had 20 minutes of that noise than nothing at all.

Actually sounded alright I thought, we ain't pompey, we are STFC where most people can't be arsed, so i'm glad that there are some fans who can be.

Sometimes the atmosphere at Swindon is amazing.  Playoffs against Brighton and QPR at home last season are just 2 good examples.  We got decent crowds beack then though.  Now our average attendance is really shite. :(

You have some singers in the town end who go in there purely because it cheap and thats what they can afford

Then you have some singers in the Nationwide who can afford the better seats

When both sets mix at away games there is usually a good atmosphere. The best atmospheres are usually at semi close away games (Franchise, Torquay, Bournemouth, Bristol City)

Doesnt help that the Nationwide is a massive stand compared the sheds like Torquay, Colchester etc....

Franchise was great atmosphere.  Shame about the result though :cry: (unlucky Smithy).  I think I heard the best chorus of "You're not singing anymore" that I'll ever hear.

I have to say City at home 2004 was one of the best atmospheres ive experienced, especially the deafening cheer when Rory scored THAT goal!

I doubt we will ever experience anything like that ever again to be honest! Just the fact that it was such an important goal did not compare to how outstanding it was!

Unfortunately I was on holiday 4 the away game at Brizzle.  I went to home game (0-0).  I was in the townend.  Have any of u seen that bloke in the townend who has "We 8 Oxford" on his shirt?
