Title: Official Wolves v Swindon matchday thread.
Post by: BANGKOK RED on Monday, August 24, 2009, 16:14:18
Was tempted to stay up for this one tonight, hence me starting this thread now. I am pleased though that I checked first to find out that it actually kicks off tomorrow (Tuesday) instead.

For what it's worth. I have a Wolves fan of a friend (well, actually my pub landlord) who is feeling uneasy about this one. He reckons they will likely put out a youth team cos avoiding relegation is their main concern.

Says on Wolves OS that they will play a mixture of youth and first teamers.

Will Keogh play?

Damn you BR you didn't let "lucky" KOT start the matchday thread!

Not that I am supersticious...touch wood!

If Wolves don't take us seriously we will have a chance, if we can get at them. They havent had a wonderful start but have been solid and not let many in....if they play finge players they are ripe for the taking, especially if we have a good following up there backing us all the way.

From the Wolves OS

Quote
Mick McCarthy today confirmed he'll be ringing the changes for tomorrow's Carling Cup tie with Swindon - but it will still be a strong squad made up of senior players who will try and secure Wolves' passage through to the Third Round.

After an intensive start to life in the Barclays Premier League with three games in a week, the boss is ready to hand several of his players a rest which at the same time offers a chance to others in need of some football.

Stephen Ward (knee) and Greg Halford (calf) definitely won't be risked but the likes of Ronald Zubar - set to make his competitive Wolves debut - and Kevin Doyle are in line to figure against the League One side.

"I will be changing the team out of necessity in some areas as well as to give one or two a game and give others a break because it's been an intense start," said Mick.

"It is a competition we want to try and win but we've got a squad of first team players and some of them need to play.

"Andrew Surman, David Jones, Christophe Berra, Sam Vokes, Doyler, Ronald Zubar, Marcus Hahneman - they are all first team players who need game time and it is a game we want to win.

"They've all got every chance of starting."

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is still unavailable but has a chance of returning to the squad for Saturday's game with Hull but Kevin Foley is unlikely to be involved at the weekend as he continues his recovery from a medial knee ligament injury.

Doubt it.

Kevin Doyle and Sam Vokes up front supposedly.

Probably cost more than our whole team

"Andrew Surman, David Jones, Christophe Berra, Sam Vokes, Doyler, Ronald Zubar, Marcus Hahneman"

Thats not a bad back up team, if they only play with seven we will be ok though.

Good shout. Mods, can you change the title of this thread to "Wolves v Swindon not a matchday thread" so tongueingmex can start a proper one tomorrow?

Title: Re: Official Wolves v Swindon matchday thread.
Post by: BANGKOK RED on Monday, August 24, 2009, 16:55:45
Do we really wanna risk the Tongan King's rep on a match like this though? yeah a win would be lovely but it's not massively important is it? Maybe it's best saved for an important (I.E: 6 pointer league match).

Besides, how do you know that I ain't a lucky thread starter?

you bunch of weirdo freaks, have you changed your underwear since the Southampton match yet?

Anyone know of any pubs?  Looks pretty rubbish

Quote
Molineux
Wolverhampton Wanderers FC
Where To Drink

Well it may be a great stadium, with good atmosphere, but the main drawback with a visit to Molineux is the lack of away friendly pubs for visiting supporters to drink in. Now there are a number of pubs situated around the ground, but they do not admit away fans, which to a certain extent I can understand. But what is a real shame is that unlike many new stadiums that are located out of town with not much in the way of drinking holes located around, Molineux is only a 10 minute walk away from the city centre where there are plenty of pubs to be found. However by far the greater majority of these are for home supporters only on matchdays (even the Wetherspoons has bouncers on the door demanding to see your match ticket for one of the home sections before being allowed entry).

There is currently no designated pub available for away fans (if anyone knows any different then please e-mail me) so choice, if any, is limited. It may be an idea instead to drink on the way to the stadium, rather than planning on drinking in Wolverhampton itself. If you do decide to wander around the centre, then colours should be covered and numbers waking around in the party kept to a minimum.

Just to be safe KT needs to start 42 new threads right away for the remaining league games (which should guarantee promotion anyway) and we can resurrect them all with the time comes.  Also means that if anyone has an irrepressible urge to discuss our likely formation against Stockport at home (KO 19:45, Tues Feb 23rd 2010), for example, we'll have the perfect place to do so.

Cup games I'm less bothered about.

Actually I have never been one for supersticiousness why the fuck would my turning round 4 times before turning off the house light before I leave to go to a game or wearing my lucky socks influence 22 men on a football pitch!

Maybe I should start! :D

The information I have (from very good sources) is, don't go into the town -too many dickheads. Drink outside and park outside but it's bit of a walk. If you're wearing a mini & thigh length boots then even better. If you're female - even better still. It was different in 1980. Things change.

They're currently showing the line ups of some matches, no fixtures.  Their teletext shows 7-45, so hopefully the spider monkey they use to type stuff in just got it wrong earlier.

Last couple of times I've been there have got in a working mens club about 5 minutes walk behind the Jack Hayward end, absolutely rammed with home fans but they're OK as long as you mind your P's and Q's and don't sing any Baggies songs. Sorry can't remember the name of the road though which isn't much help I know but we got the info off a steward originally and took the plunge.

I went to see a Second Division game in Luxembourg on Sunday in the wonderfully named League of Honour between Canach and Avenir Beggen. Some fella from Canach died last week or something and so they had a minutes silence. However not before the match as normal, but after about 53 minutes Beggen had a goal kick and the referee blew his whistle and the minutes silence was observed before the goal kick was taken. Uber bizarre!!

Canach won 1-0. Beggen had 2 players sent off in the second half for some vicious tackles! Crowd was around 100. It was hot, sunny and beer was 2 Euro 20 for a bottle of Diekirch.

Those were fantastic games, I went to three out of the four. The original 3-3 draw is possibly one of the best played at the County Ground.

Regarding tonight's game, TO has sounded a bit shit if Ed's commentary is to be relied on (which I think it can)

Looking forward to the signings. My money is on Trundle (season loan with a view to a permanment) and a Prem youngster from good stock, i.e. West Ham etc.

As a club, we took a big step forward tonight. Well done all. 8)

well what a night, just got back to my sisters in moseley, birmingham. Fantastic support by us lot, sang and sang and sang. The reason? we played a fucking blinder again. we look totally solid, im realy liking this 3 in midfield 3 up front, look fucking great and exciting, there were times we totally controlled the match.

Back 4 superb, greer and cuthbert were awesome, I would have to give cuthbert the nod over morrison, he didnt put a foot wrong, yet another fantastic signing.

Midfield were again excellent, easton in for timlin and he worked.

Front 3 looked good as did obrien macklin and marshall when they came on , fuck me we have some pace up front, scared the shit out of wolves at times.

Its really starting to come together. well done mr wilson.

just got back to Halesowen myself. my voice is horse from singing and also shouting at Tope. Fuck me that boy is frstrating. In fact i'd even say he was shit.

As for Marshall. that boy has improved and is fucking lightening. then with O'Brian we looked like the jamaican 4x4 relay team with the amount of pace we had.

We also hit the post 3 or 4 times too. so unlucky.

as for the game its self we looked solid. absolutely solid.
As mex said even with Easton who hasn't started for a while he looked comfortable on the ball and worked his socks off.

always a lottery with penalties but the lads did well and made the traveling support proud and wolves will know this could easily have gone the other way tonight

he looked better going up the middle, he was really frustrating at times as magic says but the crowd had such a go at him collectively at one point, deservedly too, i think he realised,"oh fuck best i pass it occassionally" did get better as the game went on but was easily our worse player only because the rest were fucking excellent.

That wasn't fair. We were blatantly the better side tonight, they couldn't handle the pace one bit. Sods law for Greer, had a stormer until the last kick of the game. All the lads did. odabeyi was frustrating, but he likes to shoot! So many times we had easy passes and the player just kept the ball.

Wolves fans are utter rubbish.

We were brilliant tonight. From Lucas through to Marshall (who ran his socks off - he might not be the greatest footballer at the club but he ran up and down non-stop and hassled), they were all awesome. Wolves never really looked like scoring, they had their chances but fluffed them, whilst I think we just lacked a little composure or a final ball which was the difference between 0-0 and us winning by 2 or 3 goals. The back 4 looked solid and comfortable against Doyle, Keogh, Vokes whoever, whilst Douglas/Easton/J-P bossed the middle.

If we can play like that consistently we'll be looking up rather than down come May.

Not long back,,very proud of the fans tonight..knew we wouldnt win on pens...BUT my god did we play some good stuff tonight, the best ive seen in along time, short passing movements and not giving the ball away,Lucas was brilliant in his kicking and Greer got the nod for me as best player on the pitch...Wilson is setting his stall out and even when we get a goalscorer in hes guna have to work his balls off...yes i was cheezed coming out the stadium,as on Saturday its a match we shouldve won...only time will tell wether DW can bring that killer instinct to the team cos i saw us last Tuesday v Saints and this Tuesday v Wolves and to be honest we hammered them both...only one little complaint and that is i wouldve braught OBrien on a little earlier..but that is seriously not knocking the team at all.........very chuffed with that tonight.

As a footnote though the Wolves fans wernt great tonight i take my hat off to the Wolves Stewards...not a hint of hassle from them and thaught they were top notch towards us visiting fans.
A great night all round..............bar the result.

Just back and I'm still feeling so god damn proud of them all. They worked so hard and put in everything and we couldn't have asked for anything more.

This Swindon side definitely has something and things are definitely coming together! Thought Greer and Cuthbert were superb tonight and Kennedy and Amankwaah also. In fact Kennedy was excellent. Easton did well and Marshall and macklin caused a lot of problems. Marshall has improved hugely and think he will be a real asset. Here's hoping we made it through unscathed for Saturday!

Oh and Lucas is ace, ESP the way he took his penalty!

Jacqui Oatley in her match report for 5 Live, claimed that the 120 mins of football was
"utterly forgettable".

You'll never guess where she comes from? Yep Wolverhampton! Jacqui you may have the face
for the BBC's Football League show, but you haven't the brains for radio.

Bring back Eleanor Oldroyd, she reported on us frequently during the Hoddle era, especially
the Easter Monday 6 - 4 win at St Andrews. She still claims that is the most dramatic
game that she's ever seen,even though she's a Gooner.

my mate made the point that there was little point in stopping the game when we had the ball, the keepers waaay out of his goal and there were people in the box.

i'd have sent him off but i do think myself a tad biased...i guess you could argue it was a goal scoring opportunity but i think waffling about things like this can detract from a bloody excellent performance

here's to a flat performance against southend!

Only one side out there playing football last night and it wasn't Route One Wolves. Wilson will be a lot happier this morning than McCarthy and we can take a lot of pride both in our team and our fans.

Everyone on the pitch (in white) gave it their all, and never mind Wolves fielding a 2nd string side - by the end of the game, about half our team weren't 1st choice either. Difference being that our 2nd string didn't show they were. Marshall was a revelation, Kennedy really stepped up to the plate for a youngster thrown into a big game, Easton looked like he'd never been away from first choice.

Odebayi needs to learn to make a decision quicker and at this rate Paynter will either be fitter than he's ever been or dead by Christmas. Our back line were immense, Lucas is superb, really felt for Greer who'd worked his heart out for 120 mins and was dead on his feet by the time he stepped up for the pen - no shame there Gordon, take pride in a superb running through walls performance.

Bursting with pride all the way home and still hoarse this morning.

Great performance last night, should have won but luck obviously wasn't on our side.

Backline was solid and I can see Greer and Cuthbert becoming our preferred centre back pairing sooner rather than later, the only time we gave Wolves a sniff was when we made a mistake either with a short backpass or a misplaced pass. A backline of Amankwaah, Cuthbert, Greer and JFL should be more than good enough and be a big threat from attacking set pieces.
What I will say is what a difference having a half decent keeper between the posts makes, Lucas's handling and kicking was top notch and most importantly having him in goal has definately improved the communication in the back line. Even in a packed stand you could still hear his voice above everyone else. Yes he'll probably make the odd mistake now and then but he makes both Smith and Brezovan last season look distinctly average, long may he continue in goal.

Midfield were busy and bossed the game for large parts, my only criticism was that the passing was pretty wayward from the midfielders last night but they more than made up for it by battling hard to win the ball. McNamee caused them lots of problems but I felt when Macklin and Marshall came on we really improved, the extra pace caused Wolves all kinds of problems. If Marshall plays like that whenever he gets a chance then he'll tie some league 1 players in knot,  I'm being slightly harsh but the only player I thought had a bad game was Tope who was largely useless and also a liability at times like trying to dribble the ball away from our own corned flag and he really doesn't like passing does he. I'd start either Marchall, O'Brien or Macklin ahead of him on Saturday, probably Marshall based on last night. With the defence looking relatively solid and Douglas in midfield there is more than enough cover to allow for an extra 'luxury' player and in any case Marshall does seem to try and defend so we should be OK.

Finally Paynter, as Paul said he's probably run more miles already this season than half of last season, hopefully we can get him refreshed for Saturday as he looked dead on his feet by the end tonght.

Our fitness coach will need to earn his pay check now to get all the players refreshed and ready for Southend on Saturday.

On a side note the ref was a bit fussy I thought and I'm surprised there wasn't more of a reaction when he decided to kick Tope of the pitch when he was injured which is a pretty stupid thing to do even by referee standards.

Reading the match reports from fans at the game makes me feel even prouder of the team than I was listening to it on the radio.

Well done all you great fans for making the journey and totally outsinging (from what we could hear on the radio) the Wolves fans.

I am now looking forward to games now for the first time since Sturrock was here.

Good times.

Tope can fuck off back to Bolton. Quick with his feet but fuck me he is slow up top. Would be inclined to give O'Brien the nod for saturday.

Really impressed with the penalty takers too. Three young lads, three excellent penalties (and you, Craig). Shame for Gordon really, but not worth losing any sleep over.

Good night really, would've been great if we'd managed to topple thme though.

Let's face it, a recent survey shows that most working in the West Midlands would rather not be there...it's understandable, why they're so miserable.

have to dissagree Arriba. went last season at home to Coventry and apart from We are wolves and that hi ho silver thingy they were quiet.

i even commented to my mates who i was with saying they don't sing much!

maybe i went on an off day but Coventry filled the bottom of the SB stand and could be heard for 90mins solid. even when being 1.0 & 2.1 down.

Lucas - 7 - commanded his box well, kicked well, and made some good saves. Fair play to him for taking the 5th penalty too

Amankwaah - 7 - played quite well, and was clearly knackered before we even got to 90 minutes!

Greer - 8 (MOTM) - hardly put a foot wrong, and looked solid and composed against some quality attacking players. Shame about the penalty, but it happens

Cuthbert - 7 - A good performance, I was very impressed. He was solid when defending and played the ball out of defence well

Kennedy - 7 - Fair play to the lad for making it through 120 minutes in what's probably the biggest game of his life so far. Hit his penalty well too

McNamee - 6 - Caused them some problems and hit a good shot that came off the bar with th ekeeper well beaten

Douglas - 7 - Did his usual job to his usual standard

Easton - 6 - Came in and didn't look out of place. He put in a good shift

McGovern - 6 - Not as influential tonight, perhaps because we weren't able to attack as freely. Still did a good job of chsing everything around the centre of the park though

Obadeyi - 4 - Greedy, wasteful, and off the pace. I was amazed he wasn't subbed earlier.

Paynter - 7 - Chased everything again and battled for every header. You can't ask too much more, although hi and Macklin managed to waste a great chance between them on the break

SUBS
Marshall - 7 - Came on, looked lively and scared the defence with his pace
O'Brien - 6 Didn't do too much but did look dangerous with his pace and did well to beat Hahnemann to a ball that the keeper should have had every time
Macklin - 6 - Chased defenders and worked hard, should probably have done better with a chance from a free-kick

I can't fault Wilson for his tactics, or any of the players for the effort they put in. Our fans were also fantastic, singing for the best part of 3 hours. How the Wolves fans could look pleased with their team or themselves after that is beyond me.

Bring on Southend - hopefully we'll have recovered by then!

christ no one could be quieter than Walsal.

never been to Stoke or Blues so can't comment but Baggies and Villa are both a lot lot louder than Wolves.

Baggies were similar to QPR where by all 4 stands sing at once.

We do try to operate in a fair, positive and helpful manner especially in respect to our visitors.
Thank you for your kind comments, I will make sure that they are passed on to the staff involved.

With the exception of a very small minority of Swindon fans at the front of the stand, everyone else was a credit to your club.

All the best for the season.

All the comments about the football have been spot on.

The referee, although shit, was right (whether we like it or not, i was certainly shouting send the bastard off at the time), but he was right not to send off the keeper - that was pretty much the only thing he got right all game though - paynters yellow card shouldn't have been, all he was doing was standing his ground and getting jumped upon. Wolves leading in with their arms, he missed that 'occasionally'. he didn't caution 2 wolves players for shirt pulling (but gave the free-kick, a big no-no), booked Wanky for a heavy challenge but failed to book a wolves player 2 mins earlier for exactly the same thing.

I think he got a bit of 'i dont want to be the centre of attention if a prem side gets kicked out by these lowly minnows, i best give everything to wolves'.
He would have got stick in the changing rooms for the picture PHIL! put up (and definetly wouldn't be getting good marks for positioning from the assessor) but he fucking deserved the ball in his face, and that was 20 mins in! As for the linesman in our attacking half - he was flag happy, some of the offsides were dubious from behind the goal (as to who was actually interfering), but i havn't seen a decent angle of the disallowed goal, but i reckon paynter was 2 yards off!

i hope wolves don't think they deserved that win, we'll see them next season in the Champ!

Right, after getting in at 1 and getting up for work at 5....I've finally got time to type all this gash.

I thought we were excellent tonight. We held a Premiership team to a draw over 120 minutes and penalties are always a lottery and the better team on the night NEVER wins them.

Lucas - 9 - I thought he was superb and thats the first time I've honestly thought he was better than Phil Smith. Alot more re-active off his line and first to everything. Some cracking saves and good claiming of crosses. Good penalty as well, which I called. I said he'd take the 5th penalty to Mr. Munroe who was sat infront of me. MOTM

Amankwaah - 9 - Again I thought he was excellent and solid as a fucking rock in at right back. Probably didnt do as much going forward as usual but a solid defensive display and some good tackles. MOTM

Greer - 9 - Cant add to what has already been said, captain fantastic out there last night. It was almost like watching Shaun Taylor. Kept what was to start with (Doyle & Vokes) is a 7m+ strike partnership and then Andy Keough who Wolves spent 850k on a few years back. Shame about the penalty. MOTM

Cuthbert - 9 - I didnt go to Gillingham but I guess he was as bad that day as he was good last night. Hell of CB debut and will certainly give Wilson a headache for Southend. It was almost like watching Gordon Greer!! Some quality last ditch tackles as well. MOTM

Kennedy - 7 - A decent enough game from Kennedy but at times he did look a bit 'rabbit in headlights' and hoofed it out of play alot. Think he got better and more composed at the game went on. Their number 44 was quite tricky as well. Some quality last ditch tackles where he ran right across the pitch, well I think it was him it was up the other end!!

Topi Odebayi - 6 - I dont think he was as bad as others are making out but he was frustrating. His general play was alright and he put in a decent shift (which you dont always get from loan players!) but his killer ball and decision making are slow and awful. In some ways he reminds me of Jamie Slabber (yes, I do mean Jamie Slabber and I did only say some ways) his general play is good, his contribution to the team is good but he lacks the final ball & never looks like scoring. Still would like to see him actually played upfront mind you.

Easton - 7 - Surpirsed to see him and start and more surprised to see him play 120 minutes like he'd never been away! Last season he never really got going and after spells out always looked rusty and off the pace, not tonight. It was more like the Easton of old (not just because he's grown his hair again!) still some sloppy passing in places but I think he probably did enough to give Wilson something to think about saturday.

Douglas - 7 - Got stuck in but boy doesnt he win alot in the fucking air. He just has this awesome ability to win everything in the air. Broke up play well, pushed the ref over, some good threw balls as well. Really starting to look the real deal in the middle

JPM - 7 - By the high standards he's set one of his quieter games but before in games when JPM didnt see alot of the ball or get bypassed he's basically be out of the game but last night he was full of running, tracking back, tackling. Not what we saw last season at all. Still played some good passes and hit a few good balls. Crosses werent as good I didnt think

McNamee - 6.5 - Typical McNamee to me, one minute he's running at players and they look like their shitting themselves the next minute you dont see him for 20 minutes. I think he had his best spell in the first half down the other end when I didnt have the best few of what was going on. Came close to scoring and even headed clear a corner!! Not as bad as Topi hence the .5 but drifted in and out.

Paynter - 7 - Typical Paynter, hard work, hassling, alot of jumping and getting fouled (4 in 10 get given - 3 in those 4 get given against Paynter!) Didnt really get any clear cut chances think he even cleared one off the line at some point. Can understand why he went off but probably should have left him on.

Subs.

Macklin - 6 - ran but didnt really get into the game, saw alot of the ball - flying over his head!
Marshall - 6.5 - thats probably only the 2nd time I've seen him play and I've thought he looked like a profootballer, his pace was troubling them no ends towards the end. Like McNamee sometimes he just needs to get the ball in the box rather than do a step over
O'Brien - 6 - looked lively when he came on but didnt see alot of the ball

Only thing I would have liked to have seen last night but didnt was Morrison come on for the last 5 minutes, purely just for his throw in. Launch it in the box and put the keeper under a bit of pressure.

The penalties were surprising. Scot did ask before who I thought would take them and I think I said JPM, Easton, Douglas, O'Brien and Lucas last. It did surprise me that it the young players who stepped up (Kennedy, Macklin & Marshall) dunno if Wilson picked them or they put their hands up but fair play to them. Just sticking the ball in the net has probably done those 3 the world of good confidence wise. Good penalties all round by both sides. Lucas got really close to one and so did Hananananananamammamaman gutted the one he got close to smacked the post.

Really encouraging display. I just hope we're that up for it every game.

Fans were really good, its just a crying shame we dont take that following every where. That would be fucking awesome.

Special mention to the stupid dickhead of a ball boy who was clearly very enthusiastic and ran to get all the balls that were no where near him. He looked a right dickhead.

I was surpised too but then if you think about it, Kennedy and Macklin have been in the youth team, and if I remember correctly have been in a few penalty shoot outs and won, so they were probably more than happy to do them because they know they've scored them before, took guts from Kennedy to take the first one though, and loved it when Lucas popped up to take a penalty!

I sat in the main stand on the halfway line and IMO the only thing that the ref was guilty of was pulling back play constantly for off sides etc. when advantage could have been played.

The goalkeeper should not have been sent off, he was hardly running towards goal and they had numerous defenders getting back to cover.  Paynter, although he was getting battered by the central defender was also guilty of constantly jumping/backing into the defender and the ref even gave him a chance after the 3rd/4th time by calling over him and the captain and saying 1 more and it's yellow.  It wasn't until a long time after that that he booked him.

Paynter was well offside for the disallowed goal but had it gone straight in instead of hitting the post it would have been given as up until it rebounding and hitting him he was not interfering.

I do agree that Wolves got the benefit of any doubt that was there and that he was very quick to blow his whistle at times but he got none of the major decisions wrong and nothing he did affected the result.

After being at the match last night sat up near the Wolves fans i can safely say that the stewards were unbeleivable. The racist chanting for parts of the game were out of order. Especially considerign their were two asian STFC supporters sat on the end of the rows. Complete f'ing morons the lot of them. Seriously, they go along to just shout abuse at the opposing fans, i can safely say the idiot who came and stood in front of me for the second half spent more time trying to get his mates attention and turning around than actually watchign the game and supporting the team...

After a positive display by the town its a shame theres a minority that didn't seem in one bit interested in the game.

HAHA - but they were never winning? i'd be surprised if they would've sang for more than a minute if they scored.

I think the longest they had a good old chant was "sit daaawn, shut ap" - that was quite humerous,as well as really original...

EDIT: i miss read KT's quote.oops ;D

A view from a Wolves fan

Quote

Well tonight was a potential bannana skin, the team from league one had an amazing fan base! They sung for 120 minutes and are very good to their club. Well playing 442, with Hill and Collins was as good as the Swindon fans could have hoped for. Calamity Collins did not fail to earn his nickname, despite some good headers he was very shakey and deserves to be transfer listed. Highlighted when we had a freekick in the latter half of the second period of normal time, despite being 2players over the ball he ran up to it and smacked it.

Hahnemann looked very solid, made claim to some very good balls from dangerous crosses, just didn't save a penelty in the shootout, although I'm not doubting his goatee scared it to the post. Zubar looks very good! He can tackle and head very well. His headers travel miles!!! He looked solid throughout. Berra I'm not convinced about, let Swindon knock the door several times. I'm not happy at all with Collins and Hill either their positioning was bad.

Edwards was solid as per. Elokobi on the wing got some very good crosses into the box, but no-one attacked them to the full extent. Surman looked pretty okay as well, needs to control his first touch a bit more imo. *Trying to think whoelse played* Vokes was very good, but didn't get much going for him, Doyle tryed to create a hell of a lot, but he's too adventurous sometimes and takes too many people on ocassionally, but hoping for good things from him. David Jones needed to put his foot through a few more chances we had as well.

I must make a special annoucement to Mr Mendez Laing. He's the player I would give man of the match too, and he only played one half. He looked bright, energetic and forced more saves outta the goalie than the majority of the second half. He looks quick as well. Hopefully he can establish into the team as he looked superb!

Keogh took on to many shots when he should have passed but I won't knock him for that when he's on form!

Very good penelties as well, very excited pre-birthday night although don't think we deserved to win!

I think that Mendez Laing was their number 44, and yes he was good.

Looked a right player to me.

Interesting that Coxy was watching on from the director's box last night.

If only Simon, if only.

i can safely say the idiot who came and stood in front of me for the second half spent more time trying to get his mates attention and turning around than actually watchign the game and supporting the team...

You must've been stood next to me and Sam at that rate. Or potentially in front of, I can't remember if "jonesey" was one or two rows ahead...

It probably died around the same time as my half-arsed effort at "What's it like to hear a noise?"
