Title: Wireless HDD
Post by: Chubbs on Friday, July 26, 2013, 19:18:42
Anyone had any experience with wireless external hdd's?

Im looking to buy a new HDD, I have 2 already but they have huge fuckers and I get fed up having to get then out and plug them in. So originally I was looking for a small one powered over Ethernet but then these wireless ones came up and I was intrigued.

Anyone know what they are like?

Surely data transfer is going to be relatively slow?

Not compared to my USB external HDD :)

One would assume so, yes, but how slow?
I'd like to know really if they are reliable? What the range is like? I'd more than likely have it no more than 2 foot away from me, but I just like the idea of not having cables everywhere.

Very, if the wireless interference in your area is anything like mine.

What's the point is buying a drive that's capable of 300MB/s when your wireless probably only runs at 10MB/s at a push.

But I guess you can also use USB3.
