First red card. In a pub with a few excitable Columbians. Will be fun if they score.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? Crap!

If we got to the quaters we will sort of be over-achieving.
Then lose to Brazil or Germany. Because they always make the quaters.
Think you're mixing it up with the next one, that's in Quatar

Looking forward to the Poland/Senegal game at 4.
Poland have a decent squad and have qualified for the last few tournaments with ease. Unfortunately they have been unable to repeat that form at the tournaments themselves. Were very unlucky to get knocked out of the Euros by Portugal 2 years ago and if Lewandowski is on form, I think they should be able to get out of the groups.

I've got £10 on there being 2 or fewer 0-0s. Every opening goal is met with glee in my house.

Never read too much into the first set of games at a major comp
Of course a huge amount of people would have read whatever fits into their narrative if England had lost

True, but you get classic cases like 2010... Swiss beat Spain in the opener, but then can't beat Honduras so fail to qualify... Spain go on to win it.

Come on Senegal Sorry Chubbs, they're one of my four sweepstake teams. Poland had a shocker as i feared. The first Senegal goal was just bad luck and the second had a hint of controversy but that back pass was a shocker and what was Szczezny doing?

There's a joke going round here in Germany, roughly translated:
In the Junior school class the children are asked by their teacher what their father does to earn his Brot. One by one they say baker, bricklayer, accountant etc. Just one little boy left, Joachim. Quietly he explains his father does naked pole dancing in a gay bar and if customer really likes him he will spend the night with him. At break time the teacher keeps Joachim back and asks if what he said was true. Joachim sniffles: actually he plays in the Germany football team but it would have been too embarrassing to admit it.
The Germans can laugh at themselves, a bit...
