I’m not bothered to be honest. We’ve got far bigger issues in our own house to sort. If anything puts even more pressure on the current board to turn it around or sell up which is good for the football club.

I respect anyone’s decision re renew or not renew. Problem is would renewing just keep these scum bags in charge even longer And here in lies the the problem, for me. The fans of clubs at our level provide well over 60% of the clubs revenue - they have enormous power, if they could only determine how to use it properly. Imagine being able to walk up to a bank, or other investment option, and suggest you have around 3m in income guaranteed for the next five years. Someone would likely lend you some cash against that. The Trust could, and should, be planning the next ownership model of STFC, right now. To do so, all they need is half the existing season ticket holder base to commit their monies for the next three to five years into a ring fenced fund designed to obtain equity in the business. As was shown in the months after Morfuni got control, the fans can be easily guilt tripped into spending more. The ultimate new ownership model does not need to be fully STFC fans financed, but they need leverage to be a part of the future model. Aiming for something like the German approach could be a possible goal. It may take a couple of years, but it's time to be doing it. They already have an asset on the books, 50% of the freehold and 90+ years of lease payments. As always, it's easy to sit on the sidelines and suggest such things though. Trickier to get the fans to come together for such a common goal, but if they realise they have the power, just maybe. |
