Sheffield United with the right manager should have little issues with negotiating their way our of League One.
I'm sure the new guy (Darren Ferguson perhaps?) will be told to focus on the league and not to get too distracted by the cups. They've made enough money from them to sustain a season of early eliminations.

They have the fan base and the financial backing and should be able to get a squad together that could walk this league. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jimmy Flloyd go there from Burton.

Nigel clough sacked at Sheffield utd......
According to a Sheff Utd fan colleague, he was always on borrowed time going into the playoffs. The fact that Sheff Utd fought back against us kept him in a job briefly. I suspect the gulf between Preston and ourselves yesterday showed how much of a gap there was between Sheff Utd and possible promotion next year.

I'm sure Carlo would be tempted, but he's taking a year out...

Get in Big Sam Allardyce for Cooper, the fans will get thier "get it forward" style of football they seem to crave.

I think most fans would rather we mixed things up a bit. There is a time for playing tippy tappy possession football and a time to get the ball forward and in the box as quicky as possible. There was a game at the CG earlier in the season I forget who against when the wind and rain was blowing straight into the oppositions GK and we never once put him under any pressure with crosses or long balls. We must be able to adapt to different teams and conditions.

I totally agree but one extreme to the other, I think under Paolo we got the mix very close, great passing football at times and a bit of hoof at others, its getting the balance right without relying on one tactic 100% of the time.

Isn't Cooper one of the most successful Managers in Swindon history (using a guide of at least a full season in charge)?
He's at 56% in terms of win rate. Di Canio at 67% is streets ahead but had a season in the bottom league with a big budget. Sturrock has 61% but again had the first season in the lowest league and a good start behind the team. Then you go back to Hoddle, Macari, Smith and Williams as beating him so far.

Bloody odd one that. He's guided them to the Prem, asked for a pay raise and told to get stuffed. He's out of contract so now Flores is coming in..

Sheff Utd denied permission by Bradford to speak to Parkinson - this is surprising as Parkinson strikes me as a journeyman manager thought Sheff Utd go for someone up and coming like Cooper, Robinson, Hasselbank with a good reputation for a bit of success

I reckon they would have gone for Cook if he didnt jump ship to Portsmouth.
