From a Crawley fan today
‘ By the way, Newport look a good side but oddly lacking in confidence. Twine looks a Championship player and they have few others there who are better than this league.’

Disappointing that we can’t seem to find a seem above the 2nd tier of the national league to take him, maybe that’s his level I guess. Definitely a reality check to people who had been calling for him to get game time for us though.

Magic? Any manager can get a few wins when money is treated like confetti. They were in the promotion mix before he joined.

They are 6th in the league, probably about the same position they were in when he arrived. They’ve got one of the highest wage bills in the league regardless of who spent the money so doesn’t take much of a manager to get the team where they currently are!

What exactly is Salford’s wage bill and how does that compare with the rest of L2. I’d also like to know how it compares to our wage budget both this season and last season.

They are salary capped the same as every club - £1.5m in L2 , I think.

We see it differently then as I see the club gaining momentum now Wellens is getting the players playing to his style & tactics and as stated above he can only work within the same budget as all other teams

Tom Clarke, Darron Gibson, Ashley Hunter, George Boyd, Luke Burgess, Jordan Turnbull, Richie Towell, Ian Henderson, James Wilson and Bruna Andrade. All signed before the wage cap was in place and all are on L1 or Championship level wages according to the clubs that they left(if not free agents) as all left and have signed on higher/comparable wages than they were on previously. These wage hikes were what their previous manager/chairman have actually said in interviews after their leaving. Towell and Hunter are apparently on £5k pw according to Rotherhams chairman who said he couldnt match the wage offered and Joey Barton upon selling Hunter. https://www.balls.ie/football/richie-towell-salford-411513No idea how true this is. https://salarysport.com/football/sky-bet-league-two/salford-city/
