"The 72" website is running a poll on it!   We're currently shading the popular vote Smiley

Not a dig at you, Private, but what a pointless poll.

Agreed. That website seems to run a (pointless) poll on most of its articles. Clickbait?

I'm quite looking forward to the next few weeks of Transfer activity for a change.  Based on Wellens' signings thus far, I don't really care if we get returnees or new ones to be honest.  The team seem to have a good knack of signing the right type of player for the way they want to play and the positions they need.  They've not signed many duds, but equally we've not really signed players that were "hot" where they were.  Isgrove, Yates, Doyle, Grant, Fryers, Baudry etc.  They had certain reputations or had done it one season, but all came with concerns.  The transformation of Doyle under us is a great example - would not have been number one on any of our lists last season.  Plenty, including me, scratching heads when Grant was signed as we had good central midfielders already it seemed.

Best recruitment since Macari maybe.

I concur fully on all of that.

Wellens seems to have some good connections himself as well as the Jewell connections. Wellens has stated he is close friends with Warne and Wilder, he has mentioned a few others too. I am sure Jewell and Ben Chorley have some good connections too.

Wellens/Jewell seem to know what they want from a player and sign a player to fit into his jigsaw rather than sign a player and shoehorn him into the side as many have tried to do.

Presume we’re back from Sunny Spain by now. Hopefully, that’s cemented a few renewing of contracts and press ganged Jerry Yates!

Transfer window opens a week today so not expecting any new on Jerry til then. Must be returning to training soon, too.

Nixon: Blackpool. Winners in the Jerry Yates race. Fee sorted with Rotherham. Shame for Swindon. But Rotherham happier with structure of Blackpool payments and add ons.

That's a big shame. Think he'd have been better off here but a moot point if we're unwilling to splash the dollar required.

Looking forward to the meltdown

Shit happens, albeit no mention that Yates has accepted the move and/or personal terms agreed.

Doyle, Keshi and now Yates. That is 3 very important players to have lost.

I think we could cover 1, but 3....

rebuild job then.  I expected it in this climate, then reports of bids and offers raised expectations.

We will sign other players.

We might even sign better players.

Agreed, I have always been of the opinion that Paul Jewell’s experience has had a great influence on our signings and although non too happy about loosing out on Doyle and Yates am not too worried as yet.
