People rubbishing the Newell rumour based on McCrory's previous statement that they'd had no contact with him need to remember that he was stating that they hadn't had any contact up to that point, and weren't planning on sacking Paolo in order to appoint Newell.

There's nothing to say they won't approach him now Paolo has resigned.

Agreed, it's just these last few weeks have taken their toll on the optimism front. However I think the current league table might start to help on that front.

Think Jed actually said he had not had contact with Newell.

The tweet I saw was in response to someone saying "as long as it's not xxx, xxx, Newell, or xxx" and he said "no fucking chance", or words to that effect.
