Seems we're getting ready for the conference by signing all these inexperienced non-leaguers ;)

Low risk, high return strategy... One Charlie Austin every other season more than covers the cost and can return a tidy profit...

That's fine but could we get the experience we been told we are getting since August in first.

Surely thus far it a low return strategy. One Charlie Austin. Lots of flops.

Hope this is our gamble approach 'for the future'  rather than our main target strategy.

It seems we're going down the Peterborough route with regards to signing players.

Why would we want to go all the way to the A47.

All this moaning about experienced players...Jamie Cureton and Tony Thorpe were experienced and look where they got us. If they're good enough, sign them.

Edit: Also Gareth Whalley, Lillian Nalis and fuck loads of others: for every non-league failure there's an experienced one we can name and I bet you they cost us a damn sight more.

Damn Wilson... Why is he using a scouting system to uncover new talent? It's so disgusting seeing young hungry talented players given a chance, makes me sick. The man has some cheek, surely some aged old pro looking for a final pay check is the better option? Sometimes I'm just not sure what goes through their head. Bringing in senior pros ALWAYS works-.....

Worked for Posh before, happy to give these couple a go, would hope we get some experience to compliment these as well

Erm, if we don't replace Austin's goals we'll go down. I'm not sure that's low risk.

It's all about balance. It's superb that the club has a scouting system in place able to identify players like this. But when these players come in, they'll only kick on if the pressure is taken off them and they learn from more experienced players around them. It's not rocket science, and I'm sur it's something the club has provided for.

Particularly interested about the centre back. 6ft 6 and quick doesn't happen very often.

It would be nice.

I doubt it will happen in the window though, we wont by anyone over the age of 21, so will probably have to wait further, till the window closes, teams have done their business and know who they can/want to send out on loan.

So, maybe by early March we'll be alright!

Ditto.

Thats 2 inches taller than Morrison but with pace. Sounds good to me.

That's not what I meant.

We need a few senior players with experience at this level. They may not work out but they are more likely to than someone making the step up. If the non league lads do well then whats not to celebrate. Just don't think we should pin our hopes on them helping us in the relagation battle.

What the fuck are the Adver playing at ? Are they saying we're not interested in him now and they basically fucked up?

But... The adver's Twitter page says......

Chairman tells me Hewitt is not on five-man shortlist for Town. Expect Flint to choose Robins over Colchester imminently.

maybe they have a 5 man shortlist that will impact the team now, and this fellow falls outside it and is seem as a doer upper on another shortlist

From discussions between the manager and the board, I'd imagine. Unless they cut it out from Shoot! Magazine's "Our 5 hot picks to watch in the lower leagues" feature. But I think it's probably the first one

Maybe it's not a 5-man shortlist, maybe it's a list of 5 short men?

Si Pie could be our shock new signing

Yeah thanks Paul I meant as in it is the first I had heard of DW having a 5 man shortlist - I'll guess though he will miss out on all of them and get 1 player and we will be told about the loan window opening in a week after the window closes

Well, a shortlist implies that we don't expect to sign all of them, it's the shortlist of possible signings out of which we're aiming to sign a smaller number. Which may be 1
