FORMER Swindon Town defender Adi Viveash could face an FA charge following an angry post-match exchange on Monday.
Viveash scored an own goal while playing for Cirencester against Chippenham in the Southern League, a match the Bluebirds won 2-0 at Hardenhuish Park.
While leaving the pitch the 35-year-old reacted to comments aimed at him by a home supporter and needed to be physically restrained by his teammates.
The match referee did not see the incident first hand but was aware of the scuffle taking place which he has referred to in his report.
Both clubs will now wait to see if the FA wish to take the matter further.
Chippenham secretary Chris Blake said: “At this time the club is waiting to see if the FA request a statement from the club.
“The match referee did not hear the comments made and therefore he has only been able to make a reference to ‘an incident’ in the tunnel.
“If the FA do request a formal club response then we will submit a detailed report on the incident.
“This will include comments from the referee’s assessor who witnessed the incident.”
Meanwhile, Cirencester manager Brian Hughes will not be taking any action against the player.
He said: “Someone’s said something and he’s taken offence to it.
“Adi has conducted himself with extreme professionalism all of his career so it must have been something serious to set him off.
“He’s apologised for his conduct and his involvement in the incident and that’s the end of it as far as I’m concerned.”
