Six people, including three footballers, arrested by police investigating claims of match-fixing in the UK by an Asian betting syndicate

Players earning 5k a week should narrow it down to league 1/2 teams. Interesting!

Front page of telegraph tomorrow.

That's why nobody seems to know where Rooney is Smiley
Delroy Facey, ex pro and now agent is one of the six who have been held during the last two days. It states lower league games are fixed for as little as 50,000 and players are given as much as £5,000 for getting a yellow card and influencing results. Looking forward to reading the whole article tomorrow.

Anyone else feel a bit nervous?

By virtue of the amount of yellow cards we've got this season, statistically yes.

However, I really doubt anyone in our team will be involved in this.

Eh? With players on £5k a week. Sounds more like Championship players to me.

Can't think there are many players on that money in L1 L2

No I think players were given 5k to do 'something' ie. Get booked.

Although if they'd heard the radio interviews this morning making it clear this was non-league clubs, or even just read into it a bit rather than reaching for the scaremonger button, then they perhaps might be a bit more relaxed.

Such complacency....Macclesfield are non-league, we have our worst ever cup defeat to a non league side, who a couple of weeks later lose to Salisbury. Ranger goes missing and then has a fall out with Power post match  Yes

£5k a month.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/10479444/Football-match-fixing-Fixer-predicts-outcome-of-upcoming-match.html

Its an interesting watch and will be even more interesting to see which club it is

Edit: this is the video I watched last night

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/10479791/Football-match-fixing-Usually-it-costs-70000-for-the-players.html

Clearly says players earn £5k a week and he can make a player be booked in the 1st 10 mins for £7k. The bbc understands that its a non league club but it must be quite a big club to be paying that money to players.

That's a fair point. And I guess the current arrests may just be the tip of the iceberg rather than the full extent of it. I consider myself duly put in my place Smiley
