Post by: mexico red on Saturday, October 7, 2006, 12:30:24
im furious, the trust and loud and proud get called up to this meeting but where were the tef?

how could you hold a meeting without sussex rimming birdy, ralphy going on about fucking cars, reg talking about the 20s and sonic fucking moaning. no yeovil to get pissed and be thrown out, no beckett screaming ginger. no ben talking absolute bollocks and especially no spacey looking down his nose at us all.

its a fucking liability.

I wouldn't go to a meeting with the riff raff on here.

Much as supporters' trusts have a place in this world, I do wonder whether they are engaging the grass roots support of the club by exclusively talking to these people.

FFS! We hold an open forum to attempt to tell people the full situation as we understand it and get slated for "airing the dirty linen in public". We then have a meeting with the club to try and reach an agreement to stop people slagging each other in public, which had reached a stage where it was doing no-one any good, and to reassure the Wills family that we have no hsotile intent towards them personally (both of which I'd say are fairly reasonable aims). Following that, we go out on a limb a bit to give a pretty full account of what happened, then get slated for that. Jesus! Other than doing live broadcasts of the meeting from a webcam secreted in my trousers, I'm not sure what else we could do to try and keep people informed.

shut up pauld, if that's your real name. I think the serious question here is why were neither me or yoevil invited to this meeting? Was there free drink?

Secretions in trousers can be quite messy if you get excited

Rather think you've answered your own question there  :D

I don't want to be rude but do you think Paul D, Rob T et al have been invited to this meeting because they have some profile as fans for actually organising stuff, like public meetings, the L&P events etc. ?

You just don't get the same sort of recognition for staying up 'til all hours of the morning on a web forum posting a load of old bollocks about cars, porn, early '80's childrens TV and biscuits.

Unfair I know.

And that, in a nutshell, is precisely what is wrong with this club  :D Yeovil for chairman, mex for manager!

Paul,

No offence was meant by my post - I hope you didn't take it that way.

When I said 'they' I meant the club rather than the supporters' trust (ie - the club exclusively talking to the trust and not more fans).

My problem with it is that we as fans are talking to the club by proxy and through you guys. Personally I'd rather hear all this from the Wills family myself - whatever happened to those meetings that used to be held in the Winners? I've been to a few of those, but I reckon we could do with more of them with the top brass from the club.

I admit, reading back, my initial post was poorly worded.. I was aiming my criticism at the club, not the Trust. You guys have an obvious place - but it's about time more fans got called to these meetings just so the club can hear more of a cross section of views from the people with those views instead of you guys passing it all on.

Chris, point taken and sorry for the slightly "tantrummy" nature of my response - it's been a very long week. But reading my reply back, I'm a bit embarassed now. Ah, well, not the first time and won't be the last.

FWIW, I agree with you - there's a place for both representative meetings and open to all comers fans' meetings (which is why we held one recently!). We have said, when asked why the club weren't asked to the open forum we held recently, that they should hold a fans' forum of their own if they wish to address fans en masse.
