Wright:
- First half hour they were bigger stronger and in total control
- They should have been 2-0 up at half time
- Second half we got in their face a bit more but without creating anything other than Payne's run
- Keep giving teams the first goal which gives us a problem
- Didnt have the quality or guile to get back in the game
- In a difficult situation and have to stick together and remain positive
- Its not a plan to close the back door. We play too many square balls
- It was difficult to break them down in the second half
- We need to be more positive and confident in our play
- The biggest thing today was effort
- Thought we could get down the side of them with our fullbacks
- They were more deep in the second half. We didnt have the guile
- We are in talks with Arsenal about M Smith's future
- Its a footballing decision
- J Smith said he wanted to play football. City were offered the opportunity to sell and called him back and did so. Jonny wanted to play
- Footballing logic behind M Smith: We need players on loan in different areas
- T Smith: Sheff Utd want him to stay with us. Another club wanted to sign him permanently, which is why he went back, but Sheff Utd didnt want to sell him. That's why he came back to us.
- All the clubs at the bottom of the table are in trouble.
- If we lose to Wigan should Wright and Sheridan be sacked?: There have been mitigating circumstance, but thats up to the powers that be. They know its not good enough and are trying their best (paraphrased)
- Hopefully we might be able to add to the squad (permanent), but there is nothing concrete or on the horizon.
- Travers is making too many saves because we are not defending well enough

Not even doing the post match? Never thought I'd dislike a manager as quickly as I did Paul Hart. Hart at least came out and faced the music.

Very cowardly.

Travers 8
Made a few good saves but couldn’t do anything for the goal. Nice to have a solid keeper. He was the only player I wouldn’t trade for the opposite number of the Hull side.

Freeman 6
Not fit and will steal the phrase ‘turning circle of a Sherman tank’

Masterson 5
Was all over the shop in the first half. Not put under pressure in the second.

Conroy 6
Same as Masterson.

Thompson 5
Didn’t know whether he was playing LM or LB and was caught out of position for the goal. After we changed formation, he looked more solid in defence. But didn’t manage to link with the midfield pushing forward.

Palmer 5
Lightweight. Overran in first half. Produced very little

Lyden 5
Main contribution was the yellow card. See Palmer

Twine 4
Produced nothing. No bursting runs. Tried a few flicks and passes. Had a free kick and one shot charged down that was blown up for a foul. Really needed him to extend his contract and go back to Newport of the rest of the season. He doesn’t suit what Sheridan is trying to do, unless we magic a thug up in midfield to work around him, break up play and give him the ball in space.

T Smith 6
Tried hard in the first half running everywhere. Absolutely no service. Robbed of a goal by an excellent piece of defending.

DJ 5
Flattered to deceive. Had a couple of little runs, but faded out of the game.

Hope 4
Produced nothing I’m afraid. Only reason that I knew he was playing was the commentators kept bigging him up.

Subs:
Payne 6
Had a bursting run and a toe poke at goal! Best midfield contribution of the day. But didn’t do much else.

Pitman 5
Not mobile. One burst into the box.

Omatoye 4
Not on long enough to make an impression. Don’t think he touched it.

The grapevine has also been regaling titbits of interesting snippets behind the scenes that don't show Sheridan in  good light at all. I doubt anyone will be surprised at all.

Travers:
- Knew it would be a tough test against top of table teams
- Thought we could do well.
- Losing lead so early was tough. At least we didnt concede 2 or 3 before half time
- Couldn't get back into the game which was disappointing
- Massive week for us next week
- Save from Potter: Held position as long as possible and was able to reach down to the left and save it.
- Confidence is fine. We got a bit result at Ipswich and Charlton. A few good results can shoot us up there.
- We are excited for Tuesday against Wigan and then saturday against Shrewsbury
- Feeling exposed? Played top teams who have broken us down. We had defended well. We need to compact against the better teams.
- Bonus that we only conceded 1 today
- There have been tough games since the Ipswich game. Poss why we havent kicked on.
- Loving playing every week and getting the match day buzz
- Want to push up the table and push on out of the bottom 4
- Still 20+ games. Not putting too much pressure on ourselves in the next couple of games.
