I am picking up a V+ Box this evening (for free). I currently have just the standard Virgin Media Box on the L package, Something tells me its not going to be as simple as just swapping the boxes over.
Any one have any ideas?

Nope, you'll need it paired up.

You'll need to phone Virgin, who'll charge you extra to use the extra V+ services.

Or if you know a friendly Virgin engineer, they can do it.

Virgin don't sell their boxes, they always remain the property of Virgin. So if you do call them about using it the first thing they'll want to know is where you got it from. If its a mates who has terminated his services, if he doesn't return it he'll get a £200 or so bill from Virgin for it.

They popped in the house and pressed all sorts of buttons to get it up and running for me, so it didn't look very simple.  They had a glitch and had to go into the street and all sorts, very nice chaps though.  If you want one on a good deal then phone them up and mention the best deal you can find for Sky for a new customer to have a Sky+ box installed.  I think we got ours for £30 inc installation and then got a discount on the monthly charge for a few months to stay with them.
