Title: Ferry
Post by: pauloantony on Sunday, July 25, 2010, 20:56:30
Not long back from the Lincoln v celtic game on saturday,
Tell you what....if you secure ferry and caddis for £350k it will be daylight robbery unless there is a major percentage of sell on clause inserted.
Simon ferry was absolutely outstanding on saturday and took his goal well (i will be very disappointed to see him leave celtic park.
Caddis......i'll tell you what guys, you will like till boy alot.A fullback whom can play winger, very very quick and for a wee guy hard as nails. brilliant at hitting the bye line followed by a wicked cross (if you have a big striker he will have a field day)

question for you guys though....

Gary hooper from scunthorpe .....is he really worth a £2.4m punt????
Sol cambell and david james??? surely well past it???????????

In this case, I hope we commit daylight robbery and soon as well.

Hooper has scored consistently in the Championship for a poorish side. Would have thought he'll be decent enough at SPL level but perhaps not for Europe.

James and Campbell I also think would be ok at SPL level, remember Ugo Ehiogu and Ian Wright doing ok at the Old Firm towards the end of their careers.

I hate saying the following things because it sounds like i am having a pop at the level of football in Scotland but i think Sol Cammpbell will do well in Scotland and tbf he was not out of his depth in some big games last season. As for James i still think he would do a competent job for some top teams so will be a good signing.

Don't know too much about Hooper but all i will say he seems to be a goalscorer.

Ferry and Caddis really excite me and hopefully they will both be here tuesday.

Gary hooper from scunthorpe .....is he really worth a £2.4m punt? Decent striker but definetly not worth £2.4 million

Sol cambell and david james??? surely well past it?? For me David James has got better as a keeper as he's got older. If he's free worth signing you could get probably another 2 years out of him. Sol Campbell still a good player but i'd only bring him in as a squad player.

Hmmm the fact that Ferry and Caddis are still playing pre-season friendlies suggests to me that we're still, possibly, a long way off completing any potential deal.

Strikers who have scored less than Hooper have gone for alot more than 2.4m.

I dunno rich we would want them fit aswell wouldn't we.

I just assumed Celtic were saving their "better" players for their European qualifier, hence why even Hutchinson played.

Yeah definately DRS but still, playing well can change the opinions of coaches.

Fingers crossed that they will eventually sign.

As Celtic are signing yet another midfield i do think we have a fairly good chance of getting Ferry & Caddis.

I'll be honest mate....The SPL in poor compared to the championship never mind the Premiership but that is because of the influx of poor foreigners to our game.
But the premiership (imho is a financial car crash waiting to happen)....
clubs receiving £30m sky money perseason but barely turning that amount over outwith that tv cash is a problem when paying players £50k+ pw.
Unfortunately 'world football' is in a financial mess and the cghickens are coming home to roost.....clubs WILL disappear.
Bring our own through such as Ferry will be our future and our £10m 46 acre training facility  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-486773/Lennoxtown-let-Celts-match-elite-pitch-it.html will be put to the test.

Rangers (spit!) have their problems aswell £30m in debt, every income stream sold off and bleeding cash is bad enough but chat of a £50m tax bill heading their direction in music to my ears.

it was all our youth team except for recent signing Daryl murphy who didnt travel on our us tour
.
The first team squad had two games against sporting lisbon and man united last week and will be rested for our Champions league qualifier next wed.

you will definately get both.

The s.korean right back pushes caddis further down the pecking order.
If the Israeli CM signs like the mexican international Ferry wont get a look in.

However!

both are rated highly and clauses will need to be agreed imo

The Scottish Scum newspaper are reporting we bid £250k for Ferry & Caddis which have been rejected however i don't believe this article is correct.

BBC Radio Swindon reported this morning reported that we should tie up deals for them both early this week. I reckon The Scum newspaper is probably reporting on an original bid we made otherwise why would the radio seem pretty confident as them signing unless they will both be loan deals now?

Two good additions if they come off. I guess Caddis will be more midfield than full back given his lack ot stature?

They'll improve the squad, but do they improve the starting xi? Would Ferry play ahead of prutton or Caddis ahead of McGovern?

We really need a Forward, and if Ball is going to be playing left side then two more forwards, before the start of the season, hope something is in the pipeline.

he he. Lincolns goal was a Mustafa Caroyal (sp) Albert Jarret combo. Double Swindon rejects.

if we do get them, then a defender and another striker would complete the jigsaw.

All about strength in depth mate, can't see Caddis getting in to start with but I am sure he will prove his worth when given the chance. Much like Darby last season, who took advantage of Amankwaah getting injured and kept his place.

Agreed on the forward point.

Cadis will definitely start hes a brilliant full back, he's better than big Kev.  He gave Hinkel a massive run for his money last season to become Celtic's first choice right back.  He has represented and captained Scotland at most levels (obviously not the full squad yet).  He is tipped as a regular for the Scottish national side in the next couple of years.  We would not be signing an unknown rookie here we would be signing someone in Cuthberts class.  He would be a massive statement of intention by the board to have a real go at promotion this season.

From what i've been told the bid of £250k for Ferry & Caddis isn't far off the mark but what The Scum newspaper have failed to mention is the add on's which will make the offer rise in price.

If this is true it could very well mean our deal has been rejected however i'm still confident we can get them on loan

Title: Re: Ferry
Post by: pride_of_wilts on Monday, July 26, 2010, 13:10:41
Much rather get them in permanently, If they did well here on loan they wouldn't come back next season.

Think we need to push the boat out to get these 2 permanently, Even if it means spending abit more, They are worth £400,000-£500,000 easily, Plus i think they would do well here and in 2-3 years time i reckon we could make big profits on them.

I'd have thought that we would have had a strong enough relationship with Celtic to discuss the fee rather than having to put in bids blindly.

I don't think that its that he can't shoot, more like won't. He has good technique when it comes to striking the ball, which was obvious from the goals he did score for us - I remember towards the end of the season he let fly once or twice, at least one required a very good save.

Depends what we value them at, each players has got his own value obviously, you would think though that with Fitton & Co having a good relationship with Celtic then they would discuss the transfer before making, I know these 2 are quite crucial for us, but hopefully we can reach agreement with Celtic even if we up the amount up front slightly and add on's, I suppose it depends what value Celtic want to put on Ferry & Caddis now though.

Considering it took two weeks for us to actually sign Rose, and three weeks for Prutton when they were 'done deals', I don't hold much hope of Ferry and/or Caddis signing before us for another month, if they sign at all!

Surely we're buying them? Therefore it's irrelevant about the 1st of July? Their contracts mean nothing? It's only potential free transfers coming in that the 1st of July rule comes into play?

Caddis did, but he's had his head shaved recently. It did look like his mum had did it with a basin, in the dark, whilst high on acid.
