I think it's polari as in the language they used.. My dad grew up in London in the 50s and some of his euphemisms I can't imagine being in any quiz..

18. If you cut the cake in half and then quarters, you then have four pieces of cake which would all have to be cut making six cuts. Surely you cut horizontally  first and then in half and then quarters meaning three cuts needed?

Yeah, I think if the answer is Joy Division the question is flawed. The book was House of Dolls, and the Joy Division were the women prostitutes that serviced concentration camp guards.
