Why is the home one, which was shown on the official site about 2 weeks ago on sale 2 weeks after the away one which we haven't been shown yet?

so is the home kit red shirt and white shorts, with the away being white shirt with red shorts?

or is it red shirt red shorts, white shirt white shorts?

oh, and what about the socks?

i must say i quite like the idea of a mix-and-match home and away kits

Home is all red, away is all white I think!

Great, white with a red leaf...we'll look like the bloody Canadian flag  :?

Away one seems to be released first for most clubs.

When do we get to see more pictures of them (Or any of the away kit in this case!)?? We've only seen a few and even then the shirt was far, far too big for the bloke wearing it.

Title: kit
Post by: lebowski on Thursday, July 5, 2007, 19:54:27
putting my sales strategy head on for a moment here... i would imagine that, typically, a club's home shirt would sell more units than an away shirt, as the home shirt is in the traditional colours and will be worn most often, etc etc etc. putting the away kit on sale first makes sense as fans will tend to buy whatever comes out first, and are likely to buy the home shirt anyway.

I've been told and so have others been constantly told the away kit will be released on the 14th, this club can't get anything right can they!!

I was told by Lyn Topp not long ago that it was definitley the 14th, the club is useless, their loss anyway as people won't be spending money.

According to the club shop yesterday the home kit is still scheduled for release at the open day, the away kit they were hoping would be a couple of days before (non specific).

Could just be a manufacturing delay I guess. Not going to buy one myself just yet, but I hope they have worked out how to put the full club badge with motto on it...

They have not got enough labour to put them on cos they have all been laid off as far as I have heard

I've never rated Lotto TBH but they are making a right shambles with this kit, most other team's kit's came out a while back!

I'm not that bothered about it, i always purchase both kits every season and i'm hoping to wear one of the new kits to the northampton match, surely they will be out by then, although nothing would surprise me, you would have thought that the club would be pushing lotto to hurry up and get them out but with the way our club is run i'm not so sure soapy tit wank!

Been told by a friend of mine who got an email from ben lambert today! Also he is supposed to be putting an update on the OS today.

Every week they say next week and they don't come out soapy tit wank, as i said sheffield wednesday's kit's have been delivered and are going on sale monday, i've got a feeling that our kit won't be out before the start of the season, it seems fishy to me if lotto have supplied other team's kit's then why not our's as well? it's a right shambles!!

I just phoned the club shop and was told the following (Take it anyway you want)

The Club placed the order for the shirts in February and actually paid extra, so the kit would be shipped in by air freight.

They have now been given 3 different delivery dates and are expecting the kit at the beginning of next week.

Obviously that won't appease the biased amongst us :D

According to this thread

http://www.thetownend.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17929

Voting ending on 26 January.

However, there was still the issue of the new club badge and new sponsor, so make of that what you will.

Edit: I suspect the club ordered a quantity of kits, advising Lotto that the badge and sponsor logos would follow idc.

I agree, I'm pretty sure that a couple of the other choices didn;t have the wording below, which is why this one won.  To produce a kit with out it is a bit crap really.

Title: kit
Post by: herthab on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, 16:31:41
Maybe the reason for the delay is that the new kit will have the club badge (With motto) on the left, the lotto badge on the right and the sponsor logo in the middle?

(I don't really believe this, but hey, you never know!)

Everything not embroidered has it on though, so unlikely.

More likely is that they can't make it look right when embroidered(or is at least taking time to do so, hence the delay).

I just thought most of the people discussing how horrible a delay was were actually people who suggested it wasn't worth buying?  Kits are late every year it seems, it;s not exactly a Board bashing issues is it, I mean, if anything we claimed they had it all done and dusted too early, as in the voting meant nothing.  It's the ruddy kit manufacturers most of the time.

I think only the most deluded on here are linking the delay in the kit to anything dodgy by the club.

It's a shame that we can't have a football related thread on the forum anymore that isn't immediately hijacked by people spouting their conspiracy theories and anti board rants.

What a load of crap, Sheffield Wednesday have lotto as their kit makers and their away kit came out on 13th June and they have already recieved their home kit which is going on sale on monday! so there must be a different reason.

It would be weird seeing the players wearing last season's kit at northampton as they only have 2 weeks to get the kits out now!

It's just that they've tried to go with the traditional look and cocked it up - the town crest style badge is nice but the old one on the 89-91 kit is much better - and IMHO it's pretty shabby that they've given us a badge that they can't put on the shirts properly either.  It's not exactly a deal breaker - but given how the club is being run by the brains behind a 'sucessful sports marketing company' it's just average to have such a mediocre badge and merchandise.

Agreed - randomly all the lesiure wear seems to haev badge and manufacturers logo reversed - probably a retrofit of the STFC badge onto generic Lotto tops.  The new kit is nice though, would be better with red shorts and a proper badge-  but certainly better when it actually fits the players.

I think you're right there tbh.

Although I do like us in all red.

The shirt's not as bad, when people wear the correct size and are not forced into publicity shots in XXXL sizes.

The away kit will be better I think.

I take it we'll wear it at Exeter???

I thought the kit looked really good actually - we looked very smart indeed with the red shorts that matched the shirt.

White one in the shop looks a bit CANADA tho!

still think the leaf is too big.

what is the wording on the back of the shirts?
is it a second sponsor?

I think the top is Kingswood Construction and the bottom is the URL of the OS.

Think back of the shirt is Kingswood Finance and as Matty says the OS address at the bottom of the shirt

Spoke to someone last night in the club shop.

Hertha: 'So when are they gonna arrive now?'

Club shop: 'Tomorrow'.

Hertha: 'I was told they would be here today on sunday'.

Club shop: 'Well, they're in the country'.

Hertha: 'Result............When do you expect to have them on sale?'

Club shop: 'By Saturday at the latest'.

Hertha: 'Cheers'.

Not the most riveting conversation :D

Won't we have an issue with them wearing red and white stripes

We probably cannot afford to pay the import VAT on them, and they're stuck in customs.

How many times have you and i had the same conversations with the club shop? soapy tit wank, every time they say a different day or next week and they never come out!

I know only 2,000 are arriving and quite a few people will have put a £10 deposit down on them so i don't know how many are left, it doesn't sound like they will be having another delivery anytime soon either!

Well technically, both our home and away shirts clash with Exeter's red and white stripes. As has been pointed out in previous threads, we will have the same problem at Cheltenham and Doncaster this season to name but two

I don't think the FA much like it though. The point of a change strip is to be warn when your kit clashes.  Personally if we'd had white shorts on the home kit, I'd have liked the away kit to be white shirts and black shorts with black trim - that would have looked quite nice IMHO and given us enough options to avoid a clash.  Failing that a yellow top, blue shorts and white socks kit, or green and white spongue print.
